Replacing them requires a lot of soldering and a knowledge of circuit boards.
Is the
Tv worth saving? is it bright and clear? was it good (when it worked?)
if
the answer to all of these is yes, then you have a few choices. If any
of these are not true, then you should just get a new tv.
Your choices are:
If
you are good at soldering, then you can attempt to replace the IC's
yourself. (with all of the parts handy, it should take 1 hour)
If
you aren't good at soldering, then you can have a friend do it for you,
or you can have a mechanic fix it. (tell them that its the convergence
IC's that went bad. (pay no more than $200 for the job).
These
go bad on almost all projection tvs eventually. They overheat and burn
out, causing the screen to go in/out of alignment and make wavy lines.
