Green dot

The best advice I can tell you at this point is to go to tvrepairkits.com and order the complete convergence kit for your model of TV set, no need to search and order multiple parts from different sources and pay multiple shipping fees! Go to http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/home.php?partner=larry
The kit comes with original Sanyo STK IC'S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made IC'S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases GOOD LUCK!!!

Ws 55809 convergence

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Where to find replacement Diamond Shield at reasonable price

My Mitsubishi Diamond Sheild also had scratches on it, and I solved the problem at no cost by taking some automotive wax, and hand-polishing the shield with a smooth rag (old t-shirt works great!) Leave it right on the television, no need to take it off.

HINT: Don't leave wax on too long, and just do a small section at a time.

You turn it on, and it turns itself off.

Your set is activating the "protection mode" that indicates a likely defect in the power supply (the section that develops the various operating voltages for your set) or the Horizontal output section. (The part that scans the picture from left to right) Since it's a projection TV there is also circuitry that will shut it down to protect the tubes in the event of a failure. You will need a house call to find that defect.

Television will not cut on

Do the self check this set has: when the power light goes on and then off: ON the front of the set push and hold both the menu and input buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds.

The power light should blink a two digit error code; 2, pause and 2 is the most common. It will repeat the code about 5 times and to get it to repeat you would have to unplug the set and try to turn it on again etc.

Let me know what code you find and I will tell you what it means.

Tv turns itself off and won't stay on

Most likely your problem is caused by a fault on the Vertical Stablization board on the Red CRT. Remove the speaker grill, then remove the screws that hold the mounting board that contain the speakers. Look inside the TV2_bing.gif to the left. You should see the Red CRT. On the side of the yoke towards the bottom of the Red CRT, you should see a gray or dark plastic housing. You should see wires with a with white plug on the end, that plugs into a board on the side of the Red CRT. That's the Vertical Stablizer board. Take a piece of wood and lightly move the wires over to one side while turning the power button on. Your TV will most likely power up.

This is the #1 cause of most of the Flashing Green Light Of Death Problems you see with so many of the Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV's2_bing.gif made since about 2000. The reason for it is because Mitsubishi runs the power feed into that board, then daisy chains it over to the Center CRT, which then feeds to the CRT on the right. It's causing the Red CRT's Vertical Stablization board to be overloaded on the power feed circuit, thereby causing the contact on the little PC board2_bing.gif to burn. If you are good at soldering, you can mostly likely get behind the connector where the plug goes, and resolder the terminals, making sure you first unplug the tv, and let is sit for at least a half hour before working on it. Wouldn't want you to get electrocuted and have a bad case of the frizzies. In the event you don't feel confident enough to fix this yourself, either find a tech with Mitsubishi experience, or a friend who is comfortable doing the soldering repair. Also keep in mind that the small PC board may not be repairable, in which case you may want to get a tech give you a quote to repair it, or scrap it and get another TV if it's not cost effective to repair.

Good Luck and hose this helps.
