Can't get the tv to switch to input 2

Find the option code menu for your set and do the hard reset to see if it restores the missing input.

I have a mitsubishi ws-65809. I relpaced the STK392-570 ICs and turned on the tv and it powered on for 2 secs and went off. I ran the test and got a 2 and 2 blink. Then ran test and got a 1 and 2 blin

If you unplugged the set you will get the 1,2 no error found, the 2,2 is short protection, I hope you had that before the chips were replaced, it is one or both of the pico fuses bad that protect those chips.see photo of board, locations are 9FAo4 and o5 on the middle board where the chips are but further back.12_15_2012_1_52_39_pm.jpg they are both five amp pico fuses.

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

You have two of these or one set with different problems, If you got this error the set will of course not come on and stay on.This like some error codes is general in nature---set produces over 20,000 volts to fire the three picture tubes, hence high voltage. If the High voltage goes above a certain point the latch or shutdown circuit detects this and shuts the set down to prevent X-Ray radiation which happens if the picture tubes receive excessive High voltage--straightforward and needed, locating the part is almost certainly a shop repair.I would on this model suggest removing power from the set which clears the errors detected and stored and then power up and try to turn set on again---when it fails check for the error code with the self check again

My Mitsubishi WS-65809 turns on and then off after 4 seconds

First to be sure, unplug the set from power and then plug back--this clears the error buffer. Repeat the self check: PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and "menu" buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together. Watch for power light to blink in a sequence: 1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error 2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection 2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION******* 2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem 2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem ******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down. SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN. As you can see 2,4 is vertical problem----might want to remove speaker grill, inspection plate behind it and look up front--vertical is on middle board at right front as seen from front of set.Look for ANY tiny drops of clear liquid which damages parts and is toxic-----glycol is what I would look for first.

Sher3sc@aolI have a Mitsubishi hd

The set has a self check feature: when green light (power) goes out on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input buttons at same time for at least five seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like: 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

If the set was unplugged you will have to try to turn it on and then do the check.

2,2 is short protection and usually means (98%) convergence problem.

1,2 is no error detected etc.

Let me know what you find and I will help.

Mitsubishi rearTV has intermittent wavy lines running throughout

Do you have anything to test it in 1080i? Does it do it on all connections or just one? I had a similar problem with my TV that turned out to be a bad input board. Mine would only display 1080i through the Component connections. All others would show pink and green wavy lines. It cost me around 500 to fix it. Unplug the TV. Remove the back cover for the TV. Using a NON-metal object, or gloves, wiggle the input board (that has all the video connections on it) slowly back and forth and see if the problem comes and goes. You will have to have someone watching for you. If something is loose on that board, the problem should show itself. Narrowing down the problem will probably save you money on repair bills.

Faded white picture

You need to have a good look inside especially at the fold over plugs on the middle board==not unusual for the metal bands across the top to lift up just slightly===especially if middle board was removed for convergence repair.Other than that it could be a bad solder connection etc--extreme care to localize what area should be taken if set on etc.
