most of the time the convergance ic go bad:
but try this:
The 3 flashes of the led when you plug the unit in is the
microprocessor initializing.

This unit has an error code diagnostics.

On the front panel of the unit press and hold the INPUT and MENU
buttons at the same time and hold them down for about 5 or 6 seconds.
The unit should activate it's error code mode.

The led will flash count the number of flashes. It will then pause for
1/2 or 1 second. The led will flash again count the number of flashes.
The unit will repeate this for about 5 or 6 times.

You now have the two digit error code. The first time the led flashed
is the first number of the error code, the next time the led flashed is
the last number of the error code.

12 ----------- indicates no error
21 ------------- X-Ray Protect circuit
22 ------------ Short Protect circuit
23 ------------- Horizontal Deflection failure
24 ------------- Vertical Deflection failure


Most units give a error code "22" short protect circuit. If so check:

Q5A00
C557

If Q5A00 check bad there are other parts that have to be checked or
replaced.

If you are able to do above call a tech to service the unit

Like a lot of error codes, this one is general in nature "deflection circuit problem" which usually means in the Horizontal output circuit but can mislead you.Someone needs to open and check voltages there, inspect for any signs of Glycol, and check for shorts to ground in that area of the set= it can be anything from a 1 dollar part to a major part.The service manual should be available online for free and if tech savy let me know.

have you checked the fuse at the back??...this just might be your problem. It is located on the power supply side of the motherboard.

It sounds to me like your set is stuck in home theater mode.
You will need to pull up the menu and select advanced in the next menu, then navigate to home theater and turn it off.
The home theater mode fixes your Television to input one or Aux 1.

Follow the steps below for the initial set-up:
1. Select the "MENU" display by pressing the "MENU" button once.
2. Press the number buttons "2", "2", "7", "0" in sequence to select the "OPTION MENU" display.
3. Press the "ADJUST" button to select "INITIAL."
4. Press "ENTER."
NOTE: At this time channel 3 is automatically selected.

This will reset the the tv ....

Resolder tuner board this set has alot of poor connections on that board common Problem on those TVs.

Thats the code for short protect. Usually its the convergence which has blown F9A04 or F9A05 if either pico is blown the convergence IC and picos will need replacement

you need to replace the 4 100uf capacitors on the DM board. You can get the service manual for your set at this link. They will email it to you after purchase and they will provide free instructions on how to do the repair with pictures plus free on line tech support . heres the link.

A continuously blinking green light is almost always caps on the dm board.If you have access to an esr meter check them that way and replace.

ONLY 1 or 2 things can cause this problem----First thing to do is remove front speaker grill--it should pulls out and is secured with plastic pegs--behind it you will find an inspection plate---Notice the one or two pairs of wires coming from the front keyboard of the set---remove the inspection plate and follow the wires to the right--you can unplug both plugs(most have two and they are marked with letters and different sizes so you cannot get them wrong)

The idea here is to remove the front keyboard with its reset button etc from the circuit---You will still be able to try to turn the set on with the remote---these sets have a Receiver(large metal box to the left as you look from the back) and if the power goes out the green light will blink for about 70 seconds and then go out---it is the Receiver booting up.

If disconnecting the keyboard allows the set to turn on--you have a bad reset switch and two choices---either operate the set only with the remote or to remove the front screen and get at the reset switch (it is tiny) and remove and or replace it.

If disconnecting the keyboard does not restore the set to operation---the receiver is bad---there are 4 or more caps and some pico fuses that can fail in that unit---Mitsubishi no longer sells or repairs these--if it is bad and not the caps there is a company you can send the unit to and have it repaired--if you need to know their name let me know---you can call them and get a quote for repairing the receiver.

I think it's possible that one of the front panel pushbuttons has partially shorted. That can make the set totally inoperable from either the front pushbuttons or the remote. But you can disconnect the front panel pushbuttons and just use the remote.
You need to remove the front panel, it's not hard to do - Just pull off the speaker grill from the front. You will see a small access panel on the front with wires coming from the front buttons running inside. Those are the wires you'll want to disconnect.
Take that panel off, and follow those wires. You'll have to undo a couple of plastic cable clamps, but halfway down the wires you'll find two connectors. They have lock tabs that you have to push to separate them, but they should pull apart without too much trouble. One connector is actually the front panel input jacks, the other is the buttons, but you can unplug both of them.

Note. If you are not a tech. then better you can't try this or be aware of high voltage current.

You will need to install new convergence ICs if you need more info on this please let me know. Its a fairly easy repair.

there are six capacitors on the DM board 1000uF 16 v that go bad, repace them with 680uF 16 v. 105C. the capacitors are clustered together. on the DM board the DM board is the board that is enclosed in the metal box. the repair is not an easy one so have a tech help you. this is a known problem.

You will not need SAMS on this one,Frank! I fixed four Mits. with
your symptom in the last two weeks.....parts = 1000mf/25v caps
105 degree hi-temp X 4.......Location = DM module...for pix's...

I have improved above procedure....When finished with repair of
PCB.,I place it secure in sockets , with two screws on end of
module back in place.THEN I slide cover down over module
and put the side screws in..........
