When I power up the TV, the fan turns on and I get

I would suggest it is a ballast problem. You can check supply of 5 volts to ballast's small 5 pin connector (trigger voltage) and about 300V-330V to large 2pin connector. If both voltages present at the start and lamp is working with in another TV - it is bad ballast.

What type of power inverter

You MUST use a SINE WAVE Inverter ONLY. Anything else will quickly "Kill" your unit. Also get at least a1 Killowatt inverter, so you have lots of "Headroom" in supplying current, and the inverter runs way below it's capacity, this ensure a clean waveform and constant voltage.
Also NEVER EVER plug any sort of Motorized equipment into it ever! especially when the TV is plugged in.

Analog video sources are distorted Over air

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

I have a Mitsubishi diamond WD-62725 the lamp

we have the same brand tv but the 65" model. had a 4 year warranty just in case the lamps went out. the lamp went out and we called conn's to come out and fix the tv. the repairman replaced the lamp, and then he said to unplug the tv from the wall or the strip it is plugged into and wait 5 minutes and then plug it back in. he left and said to call him back if that did not work. did what he said and it fixed the problem. try unplugging the tv for 5 minutes and plug it back in and see if that might take care of your problem.

The screen went out

This model should have three ways to reset--if it has a tiny button recessed on the front control panel you can try that.

The second way is with the set on hit on the remote Menu, 1,2,3 and enter---this is the soft reset for most of these sets.

The third is a hard reset that requires a four digit code used via the remote.

Had a power interuption and now the timer light is

Green timer flashing is CPU board inside booting program. This is normal after it has been unplugged and lasts for 70 seconds, normally. If it continues blinking, then there is a problem with it not being able to boot. There are bad parts inside; whether the power supply or CPU board, and possible others. It can be OK until it is unplugged/loses power, where it has to re-boot now.

Blinking Green light after Capacitor kit replacement WD-62725

I just repaired two Mit WD-62725 sets in the last two weeks.
The first one had bad caps on the power board and the FMT board. The scond one had bad caps on four out of the five boards.
Also, on the FMT board, there was a blown surface-mount fuse.
I advise checking all of the boards for bad caps. If you fine a bad 1000uf cap, replace all of the 1000uf's on the board.
Hop this helps,
Dan
