By default the Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 Home Basic editions do not include the Personalization features such as change desktop background and Desktop Slideshow.

By default, the Windows 7 Home Basic edition will only allow you to change the desktop background by right clicking on a image and clicking on Set as desktop background.

There are applications on the web that let you change the background but they are not all free. One example is called Oceanis.

choose any picture open a picture right click on the picture select "set as my wallpaper"

That means that theres a program corructed in your Laptop that even recovery mode will not work, you need to reformat and setup it again for cleaner and fresher running.

If you have a Windows password reset disk, you can easily reset forgotten Windows password with it. If not, you can follow the steps to create one. You just need an available computer which can link to the Internet.

Step 1: Download and install Windows Password Breaker with the available computer.

Step 2: Run the program and burn a Windows password reset bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive.

Step 3: Turn to your locked computer, insert the newly created CD or USB to your drive. Reboot the Computer and reset the Windows password.

There are no XP drivers to be found with Microsoft as XP is no longer supported.

If you are running Windows 7, go to the start menu, control panel, appearance & personalization. Click on desktop background. Click on the background or theme you want (you can hold down control while you click if you want it to rotate between several) and then click save changes.

Hi. Ok, try this.
Go to where your pictures a re stored and find the one you want to use.
Right click on it, and it should offer the option of "set as background image"

Try that and see if it works

If not, then try this.

Right click on your current display, and select properties
next click on the display tab
to select the picture you want, click the browse button, highlight the picture you want, and the location of that pic should be in the enter box
click ok, or accept.

Then click apply, otherwise the picture will just go back to what you had before the very next time you boot up

I cannot advise you on your repair options except to contact a Samsung dealer or website. Screens however are expensive so you may decide a new PC is a better option. Or you can order a screen from the likes of ebay and attach it yourself or with the help of a tech genius if any! It can be done but is not an easy task.

Meanwhile you can connect your computer to an external monitor. Then press the Fn key in combination with one of the F keys at the top row it should bring the image to the monitor bypassing the broken screen. That way you can access your files and use the software.

Another thing you can do is take out the hard disc from your broken PC and use it as an external hard disc from inside a case connected by USB. But this way you can only access files not run Windows or programs. Good luck.
