Orion 1200D Car Audio Amplifier Questions & Answers
My amp is not getting power
Check the primary fuse on the positive amp wire usually located near the +
battery post. Also check any onboard fuses. If these check OK, make sure the remote lead has 12V+ on it when the head unit is turned on. If these all check out, the amp is most likely defective.
Playing music for about 2hours and bass amp shuts down
You have maxed out the amp! if your running one 4ga. pwr wire to all your amps, it's choking. Going to Wendy's buying a frosty and sucking it thru a straw!. Your amp is starving for more Voltage and current. That amps peak output is 1200w @ 1ohm, not too shabby! Now onto the next issue: Grounding!, just as important as power! Your amp MUST be grounded properly. Don't ground it to a seatbolt or side wall of the vehicle, go directly to the floor, hopefully less than 2-3ft tops. using the same gauge wire as power. If your power is longer than 12 feet, and in most cars it is, you loose alot of voltage and current flow to the amp the longer the run, the more you loose. That's just how DC power works. What's happening to your amp is it's working itself to death and creating massive amounts of heat. "enough to cook dinner" Run a 2ga or 1ot power wire to a distribution block at the amps. Wire in your other amps, then use the stiffening cap just for the sub amp. Not a cheap answer but it will solve most of your problem. Next, set the gain on the Sub amp NO HIGHER than 1 o'clock. Beyond this, and there's no help for it, there's no more gas pedal to push!. Enjoy your system but don't kill it! Hope this helps
Orion cs150.2 amp power light "red"for protected need "green"
remove the load (subwoofer)...
ensure the power and remote have 12V (remotoe only when the car is on)....
And make sure the ground is a good one - sanded and screwed.
If you now turn on the car, and the red light for protection still stays on, your problem is internal, and it will need to be serviced. This is not something that you can crack open and fix, as there are lethal amounts of stored energy in the power supply and capacitors.
If the light goes on, youe sub(s) is/are at fault. Check the impedence with a multimeter set to OHMs and read the voicecoil. It should read pretty near to 4 or 8 ohms.
But since your amp is the only piece new to the equasion, chances are the problem lies within the amplifier.
It either has fried components, or your subwoofer(s) are wired to a low enough impedence that your amplifier does not like.
With more info... model #s voicecoil configurations I can help you better. I will c/p an answer I wrote recently regarding amplifier failure.
My amp keep on cutting off
wha amp do you have? and when it cuts off? did ou try to find a different ground make sure it is a good ground anx make sure your widt of the mains can handle the amperage of the amplifier
Orion cs150.2 "red" power light=need
could be either... check to make sure that you have a good ground... it should be grounded to a place on the vehicle that is bare metal... if you have a good ground then it is a problem with the amp and you should contact the manufacturer to setup repairs...

This is a very basic diagram showing the power input, power LED, and the three output channels for the HCCA 275R amplifier. The specific wiring and connections may vary depending on the setup and configuration of the amplifier. It is important to note that working with electronics can be dangerous and any modifications or repairs should be done by a qualified technician. Additionally, it is important to refer to the manufacturer's manual or documentation for accurate and detailed information on the specific amplifier model.
What orion cobalt sub is good for this amp?
You do not have enough listed for specifics but you do need to match your sub with the amp from an ohm standpoint and a wattage standpoint. I am sure your amp can handle down to 4 ohms but may handle 2 ohms. Find that out and then check on the output wattage of the amp. A lot of people have separate amps for the sub itself and run the system off of another amp. Either way is acceptable.
