Any resolution to this issue? I like stone234 have narrowed it down to the cricut not getting power past the power board. I tested the two prongs that feed the red and black power for the main board and no voltage. Cricut Exp 2. Powered on as soon as I plugged it in. Plugged in usb to computer, I didnt have the software so i searched for it then started downloading it and noticed the screen on the unit was frozen. unplugged it and after plugging it back in it wouldn't power back on.
USB ports are not welded, soldered, or fused. They are simply a press in device. It would be best to have a technician test the port and if a replacement is necessary, fix it properly. This a very RARE necessity and why did you conclude it was a faulty USB port?
Cricut design studio is no longer supported by Cricut but if you mean Cricut Design Space then this is how you do it. Open and sign in to Design Space select insert images and in the box on the right select my Image sets and then type in Artbooking. Artbooking cartridge will then come up for you to select what you want. all images come onto the mat at 2.5 inches they havent fixed this yet so you have to resize your images. If you want to download the image numbers from the artbooking book which go with design space go to http://thenon-craftycrafter.blogspot.co.nz/p/image-codes.html and download the artbooking book from this lady please join her blog and leave her a message as she does a lot of work all of which she does for free. Also if you youtube cricut design space. or go onto design space in cricut.com
You say you have a Cricut expression 2 but you say quote"...of how to reset the machine including the rolling of the dials up and down three times!" The problem I have in sorting your problem is that the Cricut expression 2 does not have wheels which work the speed, pressure and size. If you have an expression version 1 machine then there would be 3 wheels on it to adjust the speed pressure and size. Obviously if you have had the machine for 4 years it is out of warranty and I am not sure just what the person did to "fix" your problem. I do recollect a video on you tube with a similar problem however looking at the video he mentions that once it is fixed the blade housing should bounce up if you push it down, does your housing now do the same as the video. In the video Evan did he mentions at the end that the soldering of these wires may not take the first time so this may be a point to check as he mentions that it was travelling the machine that caused the wires to break in the first place. The youtube.com video I am speaking of is http://youtu.be/n7LJnfPdd08,by Evan Craftman. I am assuming that when you called cricut support you called the UK support line. I often speak with support in the USA being from New Zealand it is an overseas call however I have found them very good. If you are able to I would like to see a video of just what your machine is doing. If you dont want to post it here you could email me [email protected].
I do feel very sad that you don't wish to try the Explore as I find it a surpurb machine. I have had my Expression version 1 since early 2009, I have added every Cricut to my family of cricuts and own 3 expression 2's and now an explore. If you had bought a computer 4 years ago and you currently took it to a repair person to get it fixed I am sure their first response would be it would be better to get a new one. Your computer boards appear to be fine maybe you need to take the video to the person who did your fixing as most people who do this sort of work would not understand how the machine runs. I hope this helps and you can get your Cricut working again. If all else fails you may be able to buy a 2nd hand one cheep and have your repair person change the carriages completly.

First make sure the blade is in tight, if it's even a little off it won't cut right. When I have the no cutting on 6 and 6 I do a double or triple cut to make sure it goes through all the way. It just seems some paper is tougher.
Hi, My cricut expression is more then 5 years old. I used it one day and the next day I would not come on (it dose Nothing at all). I brought a new power cord from cricut and still nothing. I'm unable to buy a new one Please help if you can. Thanks!!
Sheila,After much useless searching and an hour on hold with Cricut support, I finally got an answer. It would seem that the cradle arm is not a replaceable piece. Cricut can not supply anything to fix the problem. However, I have found that if you can get the cradle arm back into position you can lock it into place with the thumb screw. It will still hold the blade housing and marker/pen housings, you just have to be careful when removing them to make sure you don't damage your project. Hope this helps.
CRICUT SELF REPAIR
I found a Cricut Expression machine at a thrift store. It powered but the blade did not go up and down as it moved across the paper.Hence it was not cutting.
I removed the plastic casing to the right of the blade (it has 3 screws) and exposed the electric device that controls the blade.
To access the casing gently pull it toward the middle of the machine with power turned off.
I noticed that at TINY black wire came loose. I soldered it back in place and the Cricut worked like new !
There are 4 wires, a yellow one, a red one and two black. Make sure they are connected and be very gentle when working with them. Use tweezers and small screwdriver to handle them.
I hope it helps.
after doing some research i found a lot of problems with the machines purchased this xmas exp the colored ones the best thing is to contact cricuit and see if they will replace them
The first and easiest solution would be to increase the cut pressure. Do this with the "Pressure Dial" found on the left side of the Cricut machine. The blade height may need to be adjusted, particularly if you are trying to cut through thicker stock. Refer to "Adjusting the Blade Height" in the Cricut User Guide. Cricut Explore Air 2 helps in cutting the beautifully intricate designs using the compatible cutting machines. However, in some situations, you can get the problem where you will not able to use the mat. In this situation, you first make sure you are following the right guide to load the mat, check if the mat is compatible with your Explore Air 2 machine, or your device is not facing any problem.
To get rid of this issue, you have to reset all of your devices and set up the machine once again. Also, check if the mat is not damaged, refer to the Cricut crafting guide for using the mat, use the compatible mat, and more. You can also connect to the Cricut customer support team to get more info from professionals to resolve the issue.
