Yamaha DSP-A3090 7-Channel / Power + Volume Knob Problems
Hi james, Hard to pin down a diagnosis of the problem without having a looksee under the hood. Good amp, worth repair, if you are into it. Could be a number of things
- Loss of a rail in the power supply
- System Processor down
- Main power transformer faulty
Are you able to check over the amps power supply? Need to start there to sort out the problem. Good Luck. Get back to me here if you want to get into it further
regards
Graeme
Where do you hook up
'Outside' is not a choice on the unit.
If you want to drive a separate amplifier with speakers somewhere you could replace the Main Channel Pre-Out jumpers with an RCA-Y-adapter and slave the second amp and speakers to this unit's volume controls; or you could attach a second amplifier to either TAPE REC OUT pair and the external amp and speakers would have independent control of volume locally.
No power source
That is a bit vague. Do you mean the system does absolutely nothing? THis unit has a number of fuses as well as a protection circuit built in to protect the more procey components (like the amp modules). Try the fuses first. But, if they blow quickly you have a component failure somewhere and that means some serious teardown and analysis. Look at the tops of the capacitors (the "cans"). If any of them are bulged, they have failed and require replacement. Beyond that you will need a maintenance manual and hopefully some electronics background. OTherwise, have it serviced by a pro. Most shops will give you an analysis for a fixed $40 or $50. If it needs repair, the analysis fee generally applies to the total bill.
I like Yamaha stuff. Generally built like a truck!!
