Porter Cable C2002 150 Psi 6 Gal Compressor - Page 3 Questions & Answers
How do I remove the motor housing on a C2002 compressor to make room to spin and remove the manifold
The housing has slots for the four legs on the tank to hold on to. At one (sometimes two) of those legs there is a small screw that keeps the housing from freely falling off the tank. If you remove the screw(s) the housing will slide easily to one side and come off the tank. Don't bend the four tabs as they could break off when you bend them back and will weaken the tank where they are attached to it.
My c2000 wk1 will only reach 40psi
This problem could be caused by 3 different things.1) The one way Check Valve from the pump to the tank is damaged and allowing the air to go in and out.2) The piston ring and cylinder sleeve are damaged.3) The valve plate has a broken reed. You will need to remove the covers and head to check number 2 and 3..
My Porter Cable pancake outlet regulator doesn't seem to work.
If your quick coupler is not jammed up, (remove & test) and assuming you are pulling the regulator knob out to adjust the pressure and it is not stripped, you will need a new manifold kit. There are about 6 versions of this unit so you will need model and type to get the correct part. There are no individual regulator parts available for this unit.
C2002 porter cable air compressor will not build
I found this it might be helpful>.Your check of pulling the line off to the tank and seeing how much
pressure is being generated is a good one. You have now pretty much
isolated the compressor lack of pressure as being upstream of that
point.I would pull the intake filter too, and do the same check.
Is it pulling air in strongly, or is it huffing air back out too? If
huffing, that's a sign that the intake valve is pooched. If it is
pulling air in, and air is not being pumped out, yup, it could be a
sign of cylinder piston ring wear, but then, you would be getting a lot
of air out of the oil fill cap which is vented. If that isn't
happening, and you are getting strong suction at the intake, my money
would be on an internal pump gasket blown which is allowing air to flow
around inside the pump from high pressure to low, but not down into the
tank. When you open up the pump, you might as well have a new
valve plate and gasket kit, as both are, in time, wear items inside the
pump.
Zero outlet pressure Porter Cable C2002 type 3
The collar tends to break off of the plastic tip and falls inside the spring. I just repaired mine by epoxying the tip to a modified closet-maid wire shelf clip and stacking (3) #78 o-rings on the tip. The clip mod was a tap with a 1/4" chisel to remove the shelf hook, leaving just the "square" screw receiver. As it happened, the screw recess was the same size as the tip. Put a little epoxy into the screw recess, press the tip into it, clean any excess and let it set for an hour. Slip on the o-rings, align all the parts, thread the regulator cover back into place. O-rings are in the plumbing section at Home Depot, epoxy usually near the paints, clips near the wire shelving. Best wishes.
Worked fine previously. Now when turned on the
What happens when you twist the regulated pressure knob, as you would to increase the regulated pressure? Does the knob turn? Does it turn until it stops, but still reads zero? If so, it sounds like the regulator pressure spring is broken. That's inside the regulator, and you will probably have to replace the regulator.
Air goes to only 60psi and keeps runnings
These non lubricated compressors have a "plastic" piston ring that eventually wears out. The ring is not available as an individual part. You need to purchase a piston and cylinder kit and possibly a new valve plate as well.
I have had this problem
There is only one relief valve and it is on the outside. The valve is set to open if pressure builds past 160psi. You may be having trouble with the pressure regulator (large knob with high/low arrow). This regulator will leak at times. You can determing if it is leaking by unplugging /shutting off the compressor when you hear the leak. If the leak stops as you shut it off then most likely due to discharge tube seal at the head of the pump. If you continue to hear leak after shut off turn pressure knob counter clockwise all the way out. If you hear a change in the amount of leak or stops then pressure valve is problem.
