New nailer double firing and jaming

Some trigger valves (tva6) are sensitive (defective?) however there are some things you can try to change how the gun acts. I have noticed that the brand of oil has an effect on the orings. Some brands will swell the orings, I like Paslode nail gun oil. Do not wash the gun with gasoline or wd40. Use diesel. Change the nail depth setting one position. Lowering the air pressure will make a difference. I find that most operators use too much pressure. A stronger safety spring under the trigger will separate the trigger and firing pin quicker. Finally you could use single fire trigger. Good luck

Air leaks through cap vent

I had the exact same problem after doing a complete rebuild. If you are using the Stanley bostitch rebuild kit, check to see if you accidently swapped o-rings 6 and 63. They look the same but o-ring #6 is 1.925x.103 and o-ring #63 is 1.862x.103. Use plenty of lubricant. Hope this helps.

I have a Bostich coil roofing nailer #RN46-1 leaking air at trigger area when depressed. Replaced trigger assy but same results. Anything else it could be?

Sounds like your gun needs servicing. normally strip, clean and usually fit new O rings to head valve assy, piston & usually sleeve.

How can I stop a RN46-1 from jamming

We often see jamming with stainless wire collation - the problem is almost never the gun, it is because the stainless wire is much harder to shear off than regular steel. I would suggest trying another brand of nail and see if that helps. Also, yes, the trigger is all that is required to change it to sequential, it is a very easy swap.

How to remove a broken nail head from the driver pin

It depends on how it is jammed - most of the time you need a long drive punch the diameter of the driver and carefully hammer the driver past it. The roofing nailers aren't as hard to free as the framing guns so you should not have any trouble.

How to get the retaining ring off of the feeder assembly

The rn46 nailer has two retaining rings for the feeder. The snap ring on the very back of the feeder assembly is removed with snap ring pliers or two small pointed tools of your choice. The rear cap will come off with spring pressure so be ready to catch the pieces. You need to remove the nail canister to see the rear snap ring. The feeder pin holding the feeder onto the feeder shaft is just a rubber ring that can be removed by prying behind with flat blade screwdriver. Caution when you remove the feed-pin and move the feeder or you will lose the feed-sping under the feeder , Good luck

My brand new bostich roofing gun froze up after

Water in gun or wrong oil for cold temp will cause gun to freeze. Make sure that the compressor is not making water form in hoses due to hot air entering cold hose then freezing in gun. Remove cap of nailer and check for water and lube with light oil that remains liquid in your temp range. If the oil is too thick, the firing valve under trigger and headvalve will not budge. Use very short hose so warm air in tank can reach the nailer (heat is produced when air is compressed, however long hose will allow air to cool before entering gun). Stay warm and good holidays

Shoots every other nail

Check the feeder area located just before the plunger. This sometimes can bind because of a lack of oil. If that appears OK, then I'd dis-assemble the unit and clean it completely. Use the diagrams at the site below to assist. Enter the model number on the first page to get to the diagrams for your unit.

New nailer has low air pressure

Assuming that you mean low power becauss pressure is adjusted at the compressor and should be set to between 90 to 100psi. Pressure at the gun should not drop below say 80 psi. Low power is generally caused by worn piston oring. Easy test, open side door and remove the nails. If the driver drops to bottom and moves when you tilt the nose of the gun up, piston oring is worn. Replace with part # 850607 or universal oring number #222 available at bearing retailer. Good luck with your nailing projects.
