My first thought would be the screw that holds the carb bowl. It has a little orifice and 4 holes evenly spaced around the base of the screw and it is vital that all holes and orifices are completely free of gunk and trash or varnished gummed up stuff. That must be cleaned. I use B-12 Chemtool carb jet spray. I suggest using compressed air as well. An old guitar string (G,B,or E strings) works well but do not make sharp bends with the wire! It will snap off at the right time and poke your finger. This case calls for a little common knowledge Lol. And supposing the main jet has been sprayed and blown out. Main jet is the tube with many evenly spaced holes around it. Some are removable. I clean my carbs using a welders torch tip cleaner files. Never ever ever force a wire too large in these orifices and holes. Always use the nxt smaller size wire.

Check the spark plug is clean

Does the engine want to bog down when you move the throttle? Or does it do absolutely nothing? you don't. if it spun on the shaft then you have to replace the cam.

ethanol additive in gasoline causes deterioration of fuel system parts, especially primer bulbs. Needs to be replaced...relatively easy for mechanically minded or bring to dealer. Check Amazon for parts...they are cheaper than most dealerships. Hope this helps....

My money is on a partial blockage of the main jet or the passageway to it. You're having to force it to run through the idle jet by fully choking the incoming air. There's not enough gas coming in with the choke open to allow it to run. I'm thiniking total carb disassembly, carb cleaner and an air compressor combined with a ton of patience will take care of the issue.

Gap should be set at .030

It sounds like you may have a cracked float in the carburetor. It surges and when the float is saturated, it stops. If you don't feel comfortable putting in a rebuild kit, you may need to to take it to a small engine repair place.

Unscrew the central bolt (9/16") - remove blade and any washers etc. It's a conventional right hand thread (anti-clockwise to remove), but may well be extremely tight. If necessary, grind the head of the bolt off and replace it. The blade boss slides off the shaft - in theory. In practice, you will probably have to use a puller bearing on the blade bolt to pull it off. Remove the drive belt first!

This sounds like a problem with the suction. If the air filter is clean then it will need new carb gaskets. There may also be an issue with the pressure being created by the engine.

If it the simple handle type throttle cable..push it to full tbottle and follow the cable to the carb..you should fund a small clamp that hold the cable in position..jus loosen and adjust the carb throttle to full throttle and tighten..then push it back to idle to make sure it Idles if not adjust the clamp again until you reach both throttle and idle..good luck..
