thats common for a old engine to have to choke it to restart it cold or hot

make sure your blade brake in dengaged or the spring is broken or dirty inside starter coil houseing

could be carb problem need to clean espeially if you didnt do it first

This sounds like a problem with the suction. If the air filter is clean then it will need new carb gaskets. There may also be an issue with the pressure being created by the engine.

Sounds loike the float is either stuck open or there is dirt in the carb. You might want to take the carb off, remove the float bowl, and inspect the float and needle valve. Spray the carb with carb cleaner, especially where the needle valve seats and all of the passeges inside. I would suggest getting new gaskets because the old ones usually break when they are removed. 1) Something is shorting before completing the circuit. Look for any bear wires that may be touching the metal of machine, nicks or burnt spots on wires. 2) Overload on ampherage. There is other passages in carburator that maybe causing the problem. If you would like i can look at it and see what it would take to fix it. Ethenal got in carb and caused a clog it jets or in bowl nut but without looking at it. I cant really help to much on it.

valves unseated warranty defect take to dealer to have it fixed

sheared timing flywheel key replace it check to see if crankshft bent if throw it away or replace motor

use a three prong pulley puller and pull it off before this are you sure you have points chek blad brake is disengaging befor pull fly wheel

you will have to buy a tecuseh engine they make there shafts in differnt sizes

plain were and tear on these little motors will do it could be your grass is growing faster

Check the engine stop wire where it connects to the carb mounting plate. make sure it is not shorted to ground. Remove the top cover from the engine and check the flywheel to magneto air gap, it should be about .020 of an inch, this is about the thickness of a matchbook cover. Also check the spark plug wire and the connections, make sure they are clean and tight. The magneto is the y shaped piece behind the flywheel. Remove the flywheel holdown nut and washer and make sure the notch in the flywheel and in the crankshaft are across from each other. If they are not, you will need to remove the flywheel, and replace the aluminum key that goes there. The notches need to be aligned for the ignition timing to be correct.
