Can I use this receiver with my 50 watt max speakers?

Yes. However; there are quite a few factors that are going to effect the performance you'll get with this equipment combination while ensuring you won't damage them. Speaker design type and what you'll be listening to with them are just the basic of basics. Do not attempt to drive additional bass. It is probably best that you adjust the bass with the tone control to roll it back below input level. If you hear distortion of any kind, it's too loud.

Location of fuse in yamaha htr 5840 receiver

This is old, but unplug the unit, remove the cover and check the vertical power board where the plug wire enters. There are two fuses on this board, both are 8A125V. These are the only fuses in the unit.

Fuse has not blown but

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

I need to know what

The power consumpyion for yor amplifier is 350W / 440VA and the 2 switched AC outlets at the back panel can handle up to 100W, totally 450W. I suggest you to use a 5A / 110V fuse and in case burn down use an 6A / 110V fuse. DON'T INCREASE these values, you may damage the amplifier.

My wii won't play video through my Yamaha RX-V465.

This receiver doesn't support processing of video signal, only switching. This means that it can output only the same format of video. Only some more expensive models do upscaling from component/composite to HDMI out.

From HDMI out, you can output only signal that came via HDMI in 1-3. For component out, you can output only component in. The same for composite.

So in order to use wii through receiver to TV, you must connect receiver and TV also via the component cables.

Or other option is to connect component from wii directly to TV and connect only audio to receiver.

My htr-5840 keeps losing sound to all speakers excerpt the sub

your problem is difficult to isolate because it is intermittent. I would begin by changing the fuses, even though they look ok you may have one that is acting up which would explain your problem. I would also look closely at your switch which may be on its way out.
