Immediatly go back to your dealer.is not the way for you but if you are have this problem and read this and if you can in your case replace it in between 8 days do not let repair. go for replace thats the way to handle. Only thing you can do in this cause is to control your batteries on their dc. 1,4 til 1.6 V Have allways clean battery contacts

This is one of the cheeper lasers and is designed for predominantly indoor use this Dewalt DW087K unit has a visibility range of 14 yards. Although from experience they do drain the batteries quicker than you would think and cause the laser to be hard to see as well. Hope it works for you!!

In there are the instructions for a Field Calibration Test. These units should be sent to DeWalt Factory Service for Calibration. If the unit is less than 1 year old they should calibrate it for free under their "1 Year Free Service" warranty.

Well, I opened a DW077 today as it didn't wanted to turn on. It was brought to me by a neighbor and he hadn't a clue what made it stop working. I removed the outside screws and rubber feet using a Torx T10 with a hole in the middle. Be careful not to remove the screws arranged in a square pattern as these hold the steppers in place. You don't want to mess with calibration ! Also be gentle with the rubber around the rotating head. You need to remove the metal ring on the outside to detach the rubber grommet.. Once open, there is not much to be found inside. There is one pcb, two steppers and some other plastic stuff. Measuring over the big cap indicated 0.9v and over the small cap I had a unstable low voltage. After desoldering some wires, the underside of the PCB can be inspected (all components are on the underside). What I found there was that the main capacitor (1000µF 50v 105°C) of the 5v voltage regulator circuit was blown and leaking electrolyte. Not only was the capacitor gone, it also took an SI4532A mosfet array with it. The 3A fast chip fuse was still intact. The circuit pulled +- 10mA at rest and it went up to 20ma when depressing the power button. That SI4532A chip consists of a P and N mosfet in an SOIC 8pin package. The N side had a hole and the pins were blackened. My guess is that this controls the power on-power off signal that goes to the LM2596-5 buck regulator. I have made some pictures of the damage. So this is a route to research. Hope it helps someone

Lasers do not bend, per se. If you have some sort of distortion of the beam, then the reflector is faulty or damaged. If the beam is slanted then the gimble assembly is not hanging straight.

In either case these are throw away units. Go back to the retailer and see if they have a solution. Or call Black and Decker and see if they will replace it for you.

Are there spareparts in US for this DW087 ? In Europe there are spareparts for to get ! Its for Milwaukee in Europe that there are little Milwaukee tools where nothing is to get but in australia all parts and may be in the states to. All based on marketing technical decisions and differences.
