This is a very common problem often without a solution. I'd recommend you check your signal provider's website since they will have an updated code chart but there may never be a code for your brand available in their or every other remote. Also, some store or off- brands are not widely enough sold to encourage remote providers to worry about them.

If you TV is a LCD one, it seems to me that this problem is related with the inverter circuitry which supplies high voltage to the LCD. The presense of sound means that the main power supply is OK. If you can locate an FCC number on the model/serial number tag, you may be able to find who actually built the set; their company name is likely different than the brand name.

An AUDIO cable to the TV PC AUDIO INPUT PORT (see Green mini phone jack on the back of the TV for PC AUDIO) another end of the mini stereo phone plug will go into the PC AUDIO LINE OUT (Green miniphone jack).

Go into your set's setup menu and make sure it is set to "Antenna" rather than something else. Any flat panel TV less than ~ 3 years old will be compatible with 'over-the-air' HD broadcasts.

The solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.
If your TV is less then a year old, still under manufacturers warranty.

Lines = bad circuitry. Could be a microchip. Could be a bad power supply to the microchip. Only a tech could look and tell.
