the red light should only blink when it is running. does the incline work? if nothing works most likely a console issue

With the motor being new and the "hot electrical" smell, I would say the motor control board, which sends the speed command to the motor, would most likely be your issue.

What area of the treadmill is the hum coming from? It could be a number of things.

Loose is not the answer. Proper lubrication and correct tension adjustment is the answer. I don't know how many HP the motor is for, but for 265 pds it should be at least 3HP. Put the speed at about 3MpH and while walking, make a small jump on the belt to ensure that it is properly tensioned. Needless to say that the belt must be well lubricated. If you see that the belt tends to stop when you make the jump, turn both allen screws exactly the same amount clockwise. Half a turn might be enough. When you're satisfied and the belt doesn't seem to stop, give both allen screws another half turn clockwise. All that as long as the treadmill is capable of handling your weight.

If the timer goes when you press start there could be one of a few things wrong

1. Wiring harness
2. Drive motor
3. Controller

Treadmills have up to a 15 amp power draw. They are like space heaters, Proform often recommends having a dedicated 15-20 amp circuit for a treadmill. Ellipticals have less power draw.I repair most Icon products, is this a new problem with an old treadmill? If it is a new treadmill, call the number in the front of the manual, if they can't fix it over the phone, there is a good warranty on it. At least for a little while. ;-)

Step 1:

please replace the old batteries with a new ones, with the same mark+same polarity+full charge.

adjust the REED switch, see the diagram attached, test for open or faulty, clean it, and tight the connector very well .

Note that even as a repair tech, I rarely ever get into the console.Technical note - on treadmills, the top electronic board is actually called a "console". The "controller" is the circuit board that sits next to the drive motor in the bottom housing in front of the drive roller.
