Buttons don't always want to work
If the console takes batteries, replace them. If this does not work or your console does not require batteries, check the reed switch or optic sensor. Reed Switch: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The reed switch is mounted on the frame next to the front roller pulley. There is a magnet glued into the front roller pulley. When adjusting the reed switch, make sure it is pointing directly at the magnet. Move the tip of the reed switch within 1/8" of the magnet. Also, check to see that the wire is not damaged, and is connected to the console. Optical Sensor: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The optic disk and sensor are located either at the end of the motor or the right hand side of the front roller. The optic disk spins between two sensors on the optic switch. The disk must spin freely without touching either sensor. The sensors can be moved by loosening the adjustment bolt holding the switch to its bracket. The switch can then be slid. Center the disk. See the diagram for 1/8" or 3mms aprox. and clean up very well.Attached is a Block Diagram for purpose to teaching people like you, that I did to show how the Main Controller has aprox 90% of functions of the treadmills. You must clean the keypads with contact cleaner (spray radio schack or computer store) and then tighten the flexible cable to Display Board and then Connector from Display Board vs. Lower Boar( Main Controller Board) very well.Good luck,sincerely.E.CUADRAMANAGUA, NICARAGUA. A rhythmic vibrating noise has recently started
Generally this means the belt that goes from the front roller to the motor (drive belt) is off center or is wearing out. If you will take off the motor hood cover and run the machine you will be able to see if that is the case. It will determine exactly where the sound is coming from.

Here are some possible causes and solutions:
Overheating: If the motor or electronics of the treadmill get too hot, the machine may shut down to prevent damage. Make sure that the treadmill is placed in a well-ventilated area and that the air filters are clean. You can also try lubricating the walking belt to reduce friction.
Faulty speed sensor: If the speed sensor is malfunctioning, it may cause the treadmill to shut down. You can try cleaning the speed sensor with a soft cloth and see if that helps .
Worn walking belt: If the walking belt is worn or damaged, it may cause the treadmill to shut down. You can try replacing the walking belt and see if that helps.
Electrical issues: If there are any electrical issues with the treadmill, it may cause the machine to shut down. You can try resetting the circuit breaker or unplugging the treadmill for a few minutes and then plugging it back in.
If none of these solutions work, it may be best to contact Proform customer service.
Incline won't work on Proform 400s Treadmill
If you've already replaced the lift motor on your Proform 400s Treadmill and the incline still won't work properly, there may be other underlying issues that need to be addressed. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check the wiring: Ensure that all the wiring connections related to the incline mechanism are secure and properly connected. Loose or damaged wiring can cause issues with the incline functionality.
Inspect the incline motor and gears: Examine the incline motor and gears for any signs of damage, misalignment, or obstruction. Ensure that the gears are engaging properly and that there are no obstructions preventing the incline from moving up and down smoothly.
Reset the treadmill: Perform a full system reset on your treadmill. This can often resolve minor software glitches or issues that may be affecting the incline function. Consult your treadmill's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
Contact customer support: If you have followed the above steps and the issue persists, it is recommended to reach out to the customer support of Proform or the retailer from whom you purchased the treadmill. They should be able to provide further troubleshooting guidance or arrange for professional repair assistance if needed.
Remember to exercise caution when working with electrical components or performing any repairs on your treadmill. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with the process, it is advisable to seek assistance from a qualified technician or the manufacturer's customer support to ensure proper diagnosis and resolution of the issue.
