Behringer Europower PMP500 using 1/4 inch cables for speakers?

Question edited for maker. Question moved from Musical Instruments to correct category. Running a 1/4" cable has no bearing unless you are trying to run a hundred yards of cable. Check your plugs wiring and connections to the unit. Here is the manual. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/573726/Behringer-Europower-Pmp500.html?page=4#manual ..

One side of my europower

What is up is one of the two power amps is blown... I know this problem... It is USUALLY the rearmost channel which goes to the left Speakon faacing the back. Weak insulation between layers of the multilayer circuit board arcs and fries three transistors and a diode and sometimes a few more components. It takes a lot of skill to restore the module and is beyond most repair shops. A whole new module costs about $155 from Full Compass. The amp is an HCA2400 module, but you MAY need the Behringer part number to order it from Full Compass. Also please read my tip on Fixya for PMP mixers regarding the hazard when using 1/4 inch plugs from the Speakon connectors... the Channel A sleeve is the "hot", not the tip and if you ground the sleeve, goodbye channel A...

Need part # for the Program Push Button Control

You will have to call Behringer in Woodinville WA to get the Behringer part number. Their phone is:

(425) 939-3200
With the number plus an incident number that Behringer will give you, you then call FullCompass who is the parts distributor... Then, unless they have it in stock, plan to wait a long time to get the part. FullCompass phone:

800-356-5844
Lots of luck... I have waited for three months for parts.

How to wire up outboard effects, poweramps to mixer. Out to sub, mains, monitors each with own poweramp, and several outboard effects, eq's, comp/lim/gate, sonic maximizer, quadraverb, crossover.

I'd need to know what mixer you have, to know if there is a [line out] connection socket and an [internal amp in] connection socket. "each with own poweramp" I presume means the ep1500's and NOT that the speakers are active (ie containing amps) ***If any of your speakers are active, ask the question again, with more detail.*** So if all your speakers are passive, I offer the following. I assume there is [effect send] and [effect return] on the mixer effect send>quadraverb>effect return mixer line out > eq > compressor > sonic maximizer > crossover sub output of crossover> amp > sub high output of crossover to mixer's internal amp input mixer's speaker output > main speakers monitor output > other side of eq (>other side of compressor if desired, but use sparingly ) > other side of sonic max if it is true stereo , otherwise skip > amp > monitors If your mixer doesn't have an input to its internal amp, we are "back to the drawing board" With questions like this it pays to give as much detail as possible; model and make of each component etc I have done my best with the the info you have provided. Don't feed amp outputs into powered speakers

Behringer PMP5000 Mixer. Connected a speakerOn cable to Output A while device was ON. Went to do the same thing on Output B and heard a spark. Turned off the mixer. Now, it will not come on. Checked

Chances are you've blown the output transistors. Speakon connectors cannot short out but jack connectors can and if it was not inserted properly you'll have presented a dead short to your powered mixer. In any event it is really bad idea to connect anything when it's switched on. If you're really lucky replacing the output stage (which will probably be dead short on the transistors) and re-adjusting the bias should sort you out.

PMP Mixers hazard

When using Speakon adapter cables with 1/4 inch plugs, the sleeve of channel A is the hot and not the tip of the plug. Inadvertent shorting of this to ground can blow that channel of the amp.

Yes, it can be repaired. Likely at least the output transistors are fried, possibly the drivers are too. Possible other components like resistors gone, too. Needs somebody that knows amps.

No sound coming out on both r and l channel

Oops! Smoke from on of those is not unusual, as behringer is notorious for bad solder joints and BAD Power supplies. Anyhow the amplifiers are "most likely" OK. but your powersupply is shot. My PMH 3000 did the exact same thing. And here is the bad news. Behringer is also notorious for the lack of assistance in case of problems and will advice you to have the unit repaired at an approved service point. If however you are ok with electronics you can have a go yourself, manuals are few and (very) far between. I have some diagrams and stuff, so if you need some sing out. I have 2, MX 3282A mixers, nothing but trouble! Sorry I can't help you any further, Good luck.

What are the Behringer BXL 1800A most common problems?

If you overload them the output MOSFETs fry and tend to take the circuit board and a few resistors out. They are fixable but it's a pain hat the board fries. The tracks need building up with wire so they can carry the necessary current (or any once they fry). Apart from that they are a decent Amp for little bucks and sound pretty good. They'll need micing for anything but smaller venues but the functions are really useful in getting a good sound for the buck.

How do i connect focusrite to europowered pmp4000

You don't say what item of Focusrite equipment you are trying to connect or for what purpose. Most focusrite stuff has jacks with analog outputs for each channel that can be used into the line ins on the mixer and jack/xlr combos that can be used to take a signal to the focusrite box. Then you get the firewire side for the PC and digital outputs as well which will not be of use with your mixer.

Assuming you have not got the fx1/2 to mon turned right down it would seem likely that this has failed which would be about the only thing that would stop fx to mon if all else is working. You do not describe the distortion to the mains but if it is related to the fx then this would point to the same thing, a failed pot probably. These are a total nightmare to replace although the part is dirt cheap. Allow your self several hours if you think it is worthwhile. Behringer (and some other) mixers are now made in such a way as to be almost unrepairable using a single smt board that requires total disassembly of the unit to replace even wearing parts (excluded by the warranty). I would suggest replacing the mixer with a new one or a decent second hand one.

Connecting compressor and equalizer to pmp5000

Use a two channel INSERT SNAKE. Plug the TRS connector for each channel into the INSERT jack for the mains in the area above the effects unit. Plug the TIP of each channel of the snake into the input of your effects unit and the RING plug into the output of your effects. The snake has ONE TRS connector and TWO TS connectors per channel.

I'm having problems with a Behringer PMP5000 board. the dual effect chanel instead of number 0-99, it come up as letter and number i.e e1-5

In spite of the display, does the effects work and do they change when you dial up and press the knob down? If they do, then likely the display is at fault. If the effects are NOT working sound wise, check the +5 volts as the whole effects runs from that, It should be within 10% of the 5 volts.

Behringer pmp4000 keeps dropping an ouput channel while playing live!

The PMP has an electronic overload protection. If you overload one or the other of the outputs, it trips the protector and you have to cycle the power off for a bit to reset it. You haven't mentioned what speakers you have. Be aware that the impedance can be no lower than 4 ohms on either channel. In addition, I have seen some particular speakers that have transformer attentuators in them that this amp is NOT happy driving. You could not attach more than two 8 ohm speakers to each of the outputs without tripping the protector.

Yes, you can use both the main1 and main2. They are independently driven and please note that they are PSUEDO balanced drives... that is the cold side of the balanced line is NOT driven as a complement, but is merely returned to signal ground by a 120 ohm resistor. This CAN cause hum problems or noise pickup depending on the connected equipment and ground loops. Best to run this into amps/speakers thaat have TRUE balanced inputs and also keep the power source the same for all devices.
