There is little data on the internet about this... However my AEL20E uses 2 AA cells. Some older ones may have used a 9 volt battery. Yours should use the 2 AA cells which go into the box right by the XLR output plug.

Is the tuner showing power. If so pull out (remove mounting screws) and check 1/8 plug from under the saddle pickup.

my on board tuner used to do that. I just tried to tune the guitar normally and it usually worked after a couple of seconds. The tuner needs sound to work - it won't work without you playing any notes :)

Remember that while in tuner mode, the audio output is disabled. Try additional presses of the tuner button to see if the audio comes back on. Also verify the volume and EQ gains are turned up. Verify the battery is new.

A common problem is a WORN jack that is caused by the user NOT looping the guitar cable through the strap or their belt loop. It calls for a stereo input jack? I'm not sure but I think It is probably calling for a 1/4 unbalanced input jack , keeps your signal mono. so if you are only getting the bridge pickup. You might check your position switch. and or your lead pick up. simply take the designated wire from the lead pick up and hook it up where your bridge position pick up is connected. (disconnect that first) if you get sound, then it just may be your switch. if you get nothing? check to make sure you have your ground correct and he lead wire correct. i believe you need a 1/4" unbalance plug for the amps input. Basically a guitar cord. If I am understanding the question. ? or if you want to know the actual "input jack",Maybe it is lacking or missing? than that would be a "1/4" unbalanced input jack". good luck, I hope this helps.
