Drum kit won't power up

Get a voltmeter and check the power to see if it is working at the plug. the voltage should be 12vdc. If you don't have a meter, just take the power adaptor to radio shack, or any electronics supply house.
They'll check it for you. below is a copy of the manual. Good Luck!

Is a dtxplorer bought in

Yes, the adapter takes 120 volts... Best way might be to get a 220 to 110 trnasformer converter then you can run other stuff as well... Get one of the step down transformers in first column... the 100 watt one would be more than adequate, but for future things you might want higher rating.

I'm trying to use the pads of my Yamaha DTXplorer

Actually, ONLY TWO pins are used in the MIDI cable. The data is sent serially at a 31.25KBit rate.
You probably need to "map" the ones that aren't working into the appropriate codes to trigger the SR-18 sounds.

You need to COMPARE the codes sent from the DTX to those needed by the SR-18.

There also may be options in the DTX for type of drum kit such as "Latin" and selecting one of those may have the mapping already done.

In the literature of each device will be a list of the MIDI codes the DTX generates and those required by the SR-18.

essentially the percussion codes are NOT standardized completely between devices... but there is usually a way to "map" them to make it work.

Test the amplifier with another sound source to make sure the amp is good. Use a guitar or anything to test.

When i strike the Bass Drum pedal, i sometimes get

First thing to check is if the vibrations of the bass drum amplified MIGHT be triggering the cymbal pickup. Damp the cymbal pad with your hand and see if it still does it. If not, then shield the drumset from the amplified output.

If this does not prevent the problem look for a grounding problem of the triggers.

Headphones on the dtxplorer are

Yes, what can be done is to get a headphone socket( you will get to buy the inline type fully covered) Make sure that the female socket if wired with the pins across the channels connected in series with a 10 ohm/1watt resistor and connected together to the wire to the heaphone male socket which must go to your drums kit.
Now the headphone you have if this is a one side type, you must get a regular stereo type and plug into the female socket.
You will now hear both the channesl equally. The reason why a sincel side is preferred is to listed to the music through one and hear your playing on the other. but I would also have preferred to hear both lightly than one side to make our perception oriented.
I am also a drummer by hobby but I prefer the accoustic types.
Happy drumming. Please dont forget to rate my advice.

Will a midi interface allow me to play downloaded music on a yamaha clainova 305

Yes, with some preparation. The music will have to be in a standard MIDI file format or a format that results in standard MIDI over USB output when "played" by computer software or an external sequencer. Within the software you will probably need to create a new "instrument" if there is not already a template for the CVP 305, otherwise the tracks and sub channels in the MIDI file will be patched to GM, probably not what you want to hear.

What is the best way to reprogram a Yamaha WX5 Ewi

Reprogramming a Yamaha WX5 Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI) typically involves adjusting settings, assigning functions to different keys, or customizing parameters to suit your preferences. Here's a general guide on how you might reprogram a Yamaha WX5:
  1. Access the Menu:
    • Turn on your Yamaha WX5.
    • Navigate through the menu options using the buttons or controls on the instrument. Refer to your WX5's user manual for specific instructions on accessing the menu.
  2. Select Parameter to Edit:
    • Once in the menu, find the parameter you want to edit. This could include things like breath sensitivity, pitch bend range, or assigned MIDI channels.
  3. Adjust Parameters:
    • Use the controls provided on the WX5 to adjust the parameters. This might involve turning knobs, pressing buttons, or using a combination of controls.
  4. Save Changes:
    • After making your adjustments, make sure to save your changes. The WX5 typically has a save or store function within the menu. Confirm the changes and save them to the instrument's memory.
  5. Refer to the Manual:
    • Consult the user manual for your specific Yamaha WX5 model. The manual will provide detailed information on navigating menus, adjusting parameters, and saving changes.
  6. Connect to a Computer:
    • Some advanced customization may require connecting your WX5 to a computer using MIDI. You can use Yamaha's dedicated software, if available, to reprogram certain parameters.
  7. Use External Sound Modules:
    • If you're using external sound modules or synthesizers, some customization may need to be done on those devices as well. Refer to the manuals for your MIDI equipment to ensure compatibility and proper configuration.
  8. Explore Advanced Settings:
    • Depending on your proficiency and the complexity of your WX5 model, you might explore more advanced settings like custom MIDI mapping or adjusting sensitivity curves.
Remember to approach reprogramming with caution, especially if you are not familiar with all the settings. Make note of the default settings before making changes, so you can revert to them if needed. Always refer to the user manual specific to your Yamaha WX5 model for accurate and detailed instructions on reprogramming and customization. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, consider seeking assistance from Yamaha support or experienced professionals in electronic wind instruments.
