Pentair 15 Hp Superflo Swimming Pool Pump Questions & Answers
Put in new motor, but pump will not turn. a.j.
The most common reason is you left part of the old seal stuck on the impeller and the new seal is riding on top of the seal ring (black rubber) of the old and therefore is tom compacted and it binds up the pump. Double check you removed all the old seal parts.
If that's not it, with the impeller off, can you turn the motor shaft then?

Can the pump's pressure be
I think you mean "1.5 Hp" because a "15 Hp" is just crazy, LoL Pumps are matched to each pool when they are built, so there is no need to go to a larger size pump (Higher Hp). If you can't return/swap the pump for the correct hp you had removed, you can have a smaller Impeller installed on the pump. That will reduce the flow, and also use less electricity. As far as maintenance... Clean out the basket from time to time,Lube the lid o-ring with pool lube ONLY, and keep an eye out for leaks.
The bearings are starting to
The bearings are in the motor itself. You can separate the motor from the wet end by removing the wet end. You can then remove the cap or cover on the back of the motor to expose the shaft. It may be a hex tool, a slotted tool, or 7/16 wrench that you'll need to hold the shaft while you spin off the impeller (you may need an impeller tool as well).
Once the impeller is off, you can remove the seal plate and the motor will be isolated. You can then remove the through bolts and proceed to replacing the bearings. You will most likely need to replace the shaft seal as well.
There are many tricks associated with doing this invasive of repair. I cannot cover every scenario you might encounter. Personally, when the bearings go bad, I usually replace the motor as it's usually a number of years old and all of the components will start to go bad including the windings. These motors run at high temperature and unless you've encountered a bad shaft seal that allowed water into the bearings, it may be worth replacing the entire motor. Just my thoughts. Hope it helps a little.
My brand new 1.5 hp,
It is probably only getting 115V from your circuit which will cause it to overheat and trip the overload yet it will not draw high current which would trip the breaker. Can you confirm your line voltage with a meter? If it is suppoed to be a 230V line then look for a bad leg of power, again, checking each leg to ground using a meter.

Pentair spa and pool control
Yes, the water must be circulating rapidly when the heater is on from being cold. Once hot, it can just circulate gently.
