Generator starts with 1 pull and runs 5 seconds then shuts off. Carb is clean inside.

Must be something wrong with the governor or the links near the carb. Check the springs and linkages. These are usually at fault. If thereafter you still don't find something, must be the jets on the carb. One of it maybe a little dirty.

Low output about 60 vac.

On the bottom right side of the engine there's a throttle with a set screw. This set screw is a fine adjustment for voltage control. The lever should be pushed until the set screw makes contact with the stop plate. Using a voltage meter, adjust the set screw until you hit 110 volt and then lock the set screw. I just bought the same generator, it was putting out 85 volts. Witha phillips screwdriver a wrench and a multi meter, I had 110 volts in less than 2 minutes. It now operates flawlessly.

I have no power

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

First off this a a great parts diagram on one page:
http://jandwtools.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=1066

This is pretty much the same generator as the Robin R-6100. If you look on the data plates you will see that is was made by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (I.e. Subaru)

Here is the complete Parts list in pdf format:
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/images/Makita/G6100R.pdf

Open the control panel by removing ONLY the outside face panel screws. The whole panel will tip out.
- Check the yellow wires of the condensor (capacitors) They go into the fubber flex interconnect tube between the control panel and the power head. The wires have quick disconnect connectors. Check the connectors for signs of heat. I have had to cut these connectors off on several units and solder the wires together. I use heat shrink tubing over the repair that must but placed on the wire before you solder and slid down far enough it does not shrink when you repair the wires.
-*-With the wires disconnected from the condenser, measure the resistance of the yellow wires on the power head side. It forms a winding loop.

- Look at the capacitors...(Item 75 on the diagram) they are notorious for leaking wax and the bottom of the control panel enclosure will have wax on it if the capacitors have leaked. My experience with these capacitors is that the wax filled ones do not handle the heat well. I now replace them with oil filled caps and they do not have the same leaking wax failures from heat. Also... instead of buying the whole condenser assembly for about $150.00 you can just replace the capacitors and save yourself some money!

I have to post again as I am runing out of time here to post this. Next post will be a service manual type link.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hi, I recently purchased a used makita 6100r

You may be asking too much of the unit; the 5800 watts a which it is spec'd, may be a 'peak' power rating which may be 15-20% higher than its continuous rating. 30 Amps at 220 volts implies 6600 watts which is higher than even the peak power rating. I would expect the unit to produce ~4800 watts continuous or around 22 Amps.
Decided to check my statements and found this, which I quote:
Generator Volts AC (60Hz) 120/240 Max. Output Current 5800W-48.3A/24.2A Rated Output Current 4800W-40A/20A Volts DC (AMPS) 12 (8.3)

I have a G5500R Makita

hi there
pauly46 here

sounds like you will need to remove carby and give a good clean and soak for a while
to remove to green gum / varnish causes blockage of passageways and fuel needle valves to stick and remain open / or closed as well as making it run funny if it runs and flood as you mention

note do not soak any longer than 20 to 30 mins in a carb type cleaner solution as these can attack
non metallic parts and runin them , use compressed air to clean passageways and jets

blow some brake cleaner through them to , if the unit still floods after this , replace the fuel needle valve and seat

here is web site for parts list and parts ordering on line

its a god site take look

hope this helps

What is the recommended spark

The recommended spark plug is an NGK B6ES plug, you can buy it for just $4.18 with free shipping and not tax from the link I will provide at the bottom of my answer here. This is definitely the best plug for this generator, and is recommended by the manufacturer as well...

Please make sure you rate my answer 4 thumbs up, it is extremely important to me. I would be forever grateful if you could do so. If you need more help on this question please just respond to my answer here and I will get right back to you.

Thanks
Tim

Auto idle does not work propertly on makita g 6101 generator

The battery charging is also a load. If the battery is not well charged or old it may need about 60 - 120 W to charge, which is not "Idle".
