Kohler Fort© Widespread Lavatory Faucet with Traditional Lever Handles Questions & Answers
Faucet leaking at tee where hot and cold connect to spout
The designs of the Kitchen Sink Faucet mainly exhibit differences in its handles
and spouts. Differently curved spouts and handles diversify the range of
products. Some have long spouts and some are with short ones. The spouting of
water may also give different flow patterns with the external fixtures. The
handles are mainly in single or double. source Best Kitchen Faucets
Faucet leaks. Replacing cartridge does not fix it.
Well let's go over the cartridge install. Did you flush out the valve body and clean any and all debris from the area before putting in the new one. If there were any sharp deposits of lime buildup they may have cut one of the O-rings or seals. Did you use plumbers lube on the O-rings and seal before installing the cartridge?
I ask all of this as you should not have this problem after a new install.
One other thing if the leak is only for a little while and then it stops, take off the aerator and clean it. If it is filled with debris it will hold water and drip for some time.
Hope this helps and good luck.
Kohler parts - plumber told
hi, just had a quick look and the part you would have to source would be :78125 spline adapter.
this is shown here...... http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/pdf/1146603_2.pdf
the taps are washerless ceramic valves and pretty good quality, are they still covered under warranty as i would imagine that part is not cheap.
How to tighten lever handles?
Just tighten the trim ring below lever that sticks out. Its completely smooth so not easy to turn (use pliers with tape on the jaws). It should not be tightened beyond hand-tightness. Over tight and the lever will be hard to turn. More importantly, since it is part of housing that covers the plastic that connects the lever and the cartridge, its very easy to break (ridiculous - this part is in constant use and of all the pieces its the only one made of cheapo plastic- damn you Delta!)
Balancing valves replaced but showerhead still leaking
If the faucet dribbles from the spout one of the valves leaks. the way to find out wich one is to turn off one of the angle stops under the sink and if the problem goes away that side is the culprit, if not it is the other side and you may need a new stem.
How do i fix broken handle
HI, The tool you are looking for is a Basin Wrench. Google Plumbers tools pictures. I am sorry I can't provide you with a picture myself, kind of new on the computer. Good Luck. Home Depot, Lowe's or a hardware store has them.
Water leaking at handle when turned on
1- Hanldle may have a cap that will come off to access screw to loosen or allen screw on the handle to remove it.
First thing you can check remove handle and make sure the nut that holds stem down is not loose. You can tighten it and try this first just replace handle turn on and check for leaks.
If not please go to step 2 in removal of stem
2- Cut water off and remove handle to gain access to stem. Next remove stem by untighting nut at the base. Remove stem and replace o rings on stem about middle of it. That will stop water from leaking at the base.
How do I remove the plastic insert to access the cartridge on a Kohler K-171 kitchen faucet?
To remove the plastic insert on your Kohler K-171 kitchen faucet, you can follow these steps:
First, turn off the water supply to the faucet.
Next, remove the handle of the faucet by unscrewing the set screw on the underside of the handle using a hex wrench or an Allen key.
Once the handle is removed, you should see a plastic insert that covers the cartridge. To remove this insert, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it off.
Once the plastic insert is removed, you should be able to access the cartridge.
If you need more detailed instructions, you can refer to the installation manual for your Kohler K-171 kitchen faucet .
Valve is set to far into the wall...
First, your not going to like the solution. There really is no way to solve this on kohler faucets. Some companies make adapters but as far as I know kohler isn't one of them. Hopefully you can cut a hole in the drywall behind and put it where it should be, if not the marble comes back off.
