Stanley Bostitch Nail Gun - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
The driver on my Stanley 18 ga. finish nailer( SB-
Remove the 4 screws and pull cap off .careful not to rip the gasket and pay attention to how the head valve sits. Pull driver out to make sure its not bent . If its fine put driver back in place. Remove the head valve from cap . Replace the oring around the head valve part # 180535 . If thats not a option take a thin strip of teflon tape and wrap in around head valve once then put old oring over it. Grease or oil , put cap back on and test fire. Should be good to go . Best of luck !
How do i control the depth the nail shoots in a bostitch coil nailer
The bostitch nailer pictured along along with your question is a RN46 roofing coil nailer. It has a dial on the front of the nose for adjusting depth. Some older nailers (roofing nailers) do no have a means of adjusting so were set at the factory for best performance. The question of depth usually comes up when lower bumper fails and the nail is driven too deep. Easy test. Remove nails and find a very soft piece of wood. Dry fire the gun against soft wood and measure how deep the driver is entering the wood. Harder test. Remove the head and use any handy tool to push driver down to bottom. Measure how far the driver extends past nose (should be about 1/8 to 3/16). If more, replace the lower bumper. Good luck

on my Maxim there is a lever up front that opens the forward part of the head. It isn't totally obvious if u don't know it is there
Nails skipping
Usually caused by debris in the small air passage from inside of gun to feeder piston. Easy to check. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder. Debris in the chamber is usually small pieces of oring or the lower bumper is coming apart. This debris will enter passage to feeder which is visible at bottom of chamber. If debris is found, clean chamber, passage, and feeder chamber. Debris will lodge on the oring between the body and nose. Clean and replace parts as needed. If the gun was found to be clean inside, suspect weak or missing feeder spring/s. Good luck/
Hi air is leaking from the top of the gun thanks
If you have a very slow leak most likely the lower half of the headvalve (white plastic) is scratched. The gun will work ok but waste air. Parts are not expensive and are available from Dewalt service center. Remove head and pull out headvalve. Look for scratches where oring makes contact. If a lot of air is leaking, most likely cylinder seal needs replacing (vinyl ring installed on the headvalve) or has debris keeping it from making full contact with the cylinder. If you have lots of hours of use you may consider installing the rebuild kit. Good luck.
My trigger is leaking air
Many Bostitch nailers, including yours, use trigger valve #TVA6 available thru many suppliers including ebay for about 17.95 for generic to 26.95 for factory. If you have a source for orings, you could replace the faulty oring within the valve on the spool. It will be evident when you take apart the valve. The oring must fit very tightly in place on the spool because the spool does not actually have an oring groove. The seal that fits the spool is actually flat on one side and remains in place with a small ridge on the spool. The small ridge is not in the correct place to hold an oring and Bostitch does not sell the part needed. If your are a tinker-er, you can carefully file a nice oring groove on the spool and use an oring. I use small lathe to cut the groove but you can use a small file turn the spooll with a hand drill. Use a small shaft that fits into the hole in the top of the spool and into hand drill (aprox. 3/16 inch shaft just a couple of inches long). What ever you use, do not damage the inside of the spool because one oring on the trigger pin fits inside the spool. Sand the shaft that you are using to a slight taper that allows you to fit the spool. If you remove too much metal just use a piece of black tape for snugg fit. Easier to replace valve with new but that is not as fun than remaking part to take a 10 cent oring. Good luck.
What degree nails are used in stanley bostitch n60fn nail gun
I've repaired many nail guns and I can tell you the Stanley Bostitch N60FN uses 15 guage nails from 1 1/4" to 2 1/2" long in the FN1500 series of Bostitch nails. Nowhere does SB or any of their aftermarket dealers list what the angle of the nails is. I do know most of the SB nail guns that come through for repairs are because of damage to them from using other than SB series nails.
I have a N59 FN air is leaking from the bottom of gun I put ne trigger and O rings still leaking now what.
Air leaking from the bottom of the gun (path of driver) indicates that cylinder seal orings are leaking (if without nails in gun the driver is slowly pushed down the cylinder when air is connected then cylinder seal is leaking ). Cylinder seal snaps on the top of the cylinder and should fit snug and have no cracks. Easy fix for cylinder ring. Remove head and pull out cylinder. Then remove the cylinder ring (part #n50015). Examine ring for cracks and replace as needed. Examine body of gun where spacer oring makes contact and sand fine scratches. Replace orings as needed. If air is leaking between body of the gun and nose casting, replace gaskets. Good luck.
It doesent slide the nails
Check the pin and spring on the feeder. They are known for having the rubber washer fall off then the pin falls out. Also is the spring is bad or missing it won't feed.
Bostitch framming gun sticking?
Most likely the headvalve is sticking. An easy fix would be to remove the head and lubricate the headvalve orings with white grease or silicone paste. The upper bumper should not have any cracks. If the problem continues replace the trigger valve (tva6). The trigger valve can be bostitch or generic sold on ebay for usually less then $20. The trigger valve has an inner valve that can stick due to swolen or hard orings.
I have N80 coil nailer not exact sure on what
you are correct, also you want to look at the cylinder ring and also the bumpers. These tools are not that hard to rebuild. Make sure that you light grease all the o-rings before reassembly. If the bumpers (under the cylinder) are destroyed you would also need to remove any small fragments from the air tube that goes to the feed piston. Let me know if you need more assistance.
How do u disassemble the trigger of n60fn
Bostitch coil nailers use (usually, many generic valves) a TVA6 trigger valve. To gain access to the valve is easy (remove nails). Remove the pin/screw holding the actual trigger to reveal the trigger valve. Just above the trigger valve on the body of the gun, notice one or two roll pins that you need to punch out using a 3mm punch. With roll pins removed the valve can be pushed out with air pressure. With gloved hand or thick rag, apply pressure to gun and catch valve (using caution because the valve can come out with force (try reducing pressue to gun ). Notice that there are notches in the valve that must align with roll pins when you reinstall the valve. With valve in hand remove two roll pins and push out the center spool. Usual problems with trigger valve are very small leak due to worn orings and plastic parts or large leak due to split/failed oring. Generic valves work ok and cost about 15 ~ 18 dollars on ebay. Good luck

I have a Model T55S5
The trigger valve has about five orings and will usually begin to leak before it fails. Replace the valve with a (#TVA6) valve available at
www.toolpartsdirect.com or universal trigger valve from ebay. Either case the valve is about $20. Remove the trigger and roll pins holding valve thru body of the gun. Good luck.
