Transferring files from folder to PC

you can copy the file you want (not move) and then erase it using the buttons on the device itself.

I get a "full" message but it is not full

Try this:
4 Formatting the Recorder (FORMAT)
If you format the recorder, all function settings will return to their defaults.
All files stored in the recorder will be deleted.
If you have important files that you want to save, connect the recorder to a computer and
transfer those files from the recorder to the computer before formatting the device.
1 Press the MENU button.
2 Press the FF or REW button to choose “FORMAT”.
3 When the PLAY button is pressed, “nO” is displayed.
4 Press FF or REW to select “yES”, and press the
PLAY button.
After “ARE yOU SURE” is displayed, “nO” will be displayed.
5 Press FF or REW to select “yES”, and press the
PLAY button.
“DONE” displays when formatting ends.
s It may take up to several tens of seconds to finish the initialization. Do not remove the battery or detach
the battery compartment from the recorder during that time. Otherwise data may be damaged.
s Never format the recorder from a PC.
s When the recorder is formatted, all the stored data, including locked files, are erased.

Editing? Can dictation be paused, then go back part way and....

you can not do this with the Olympus ws-100, you need a dictation machine that has the editing function which allows you to easily insert, overwrite, partially erase files and continue on the same file, most of the digital dictation units have NEW FILE BUTTON , you will stay recording on the same file till you press new.
Look at Olympus DS-2300. Olympus DS-33300 or ds-4000.

Olympus WS-200S

try this solution from microsoft:
I can’t play a file that Windows Media Player supports. What should I do?Most likely, a required codec isn't installed on your computer. Typically, Windows Media Player automatically downloads any required codecs from the Internet and installs them. However, this may not happen for the following reasons:
• The necessary codec (typically, a non-Microsoft codec) isn't available on the codec server.
• You have an older version of the Player and your automatic codec-download option isn't enabled.
• The Internet security settings for your browser are set too high.
• You're not connected to the Internet.
If you have an older version of the Player (prior to Windows Media Player 9 Series), you can check your codec download setting by doing the following:
1.
In Windows Media Player, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Player tab.
2.
In the Auto upgrade area, make sure Enable automatic codec download is checked, and specify how often you want the Player to check for updates.
You can change your Internet security settings (if you are logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group) by doing the following:
1.
In Control Panel, open Internet Options.
2.
Click the Security tab, and then click Internet.
3.
In the Security level for this zone area, click Default Level.
If you can’t play the file after completing this procedure, restart your computer, and then try to play the file again.
If you still can’t play the file, try to play another file with the same file name extension. If you can play this file, then there is a problem with the file that you want to play. For more troubleshooting information, see the Windows Media Player Multimedia File Formats Web

Formatting a file to an audio cd

write an 'audio cd' by the roxio creator, instead of directly buring the file to CD

Please choose an option to write 'audio CD' bcos most of the CD players do not recognise other formats

u may use some free audio CD creation softwares also... If i am right, winamp may also help

:)

Try to tell me.... whether my suggestion was useful???

Bye

:)

Have a nice day.
