My WS 100 says FULL and won't either let me put it

The recorder should be formatted only by using the internal FORMAT function found in the recorder's Menu. Using a computer to format the recorder may corrupt or delete system files needed to run the recorder, so formatting via the computer is not recommended.
Individual files can be deleted from the recorder while it is connected to a computer without negative effects.

My Olympus digital voice recorder

This is an indication that your Olympus has a corrupted program. Try to connect it first to the computer and see if the computer could still detect the device. If the computer detect it, then immediately back-up the files because it will be gone in no time as the program continues to get corrupted.

After backing-up the files, then, contact the manufacturer and have them install the latest firmware version that would work best with your device.

This should fix the problem.

Good luck and have a great day!

I accidentally erased the all

An erased file cannot be restored. The file set to erase lock will not be erased. once the certain files or all files are erased it can be received by any settings or nor by the service center.nothing can be done.but there is one option in the device to stop this happening.in this option you have you lock your important program files which you want never to be erased .so after applying this lock files option and then you try to erase then the files which are applied by lock feature will not get erased but other files will be erased.so this time nothing can be done but for next time do this so you important data files don't get unnecessarily accidentally erased the procedure is as follows:-- Locking Files (File Lock) Locking a file keeps important data from being accidentally erased. Locked files are not erased when you choose to erase all files from a folder. -------- In Menu mode selection, you will get the option as " Lock OFF, Lock ON". you apply/select the LOCK ON option so this will not erase your program files still after you select erase . --------- This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

CANNOT TRANSFER AUDIO FILES FROM WS-100 OLYMPUS

I wrote this for the Olympus VN-3100PC although it may work with this device as well.

Try this:

This problem can typically be solved by unplugging the device from your computer's USB port and plugging it in to another USB port on the same computer.

Also be sure you have Olympus Digital Wave Player installed and open with your Transfer Options set to Auto Transfer. To do this, follow the steps below:

Open Digital Wave Player > select Transfer from the menu > select Transfer Options > under Auto Transfer, check the box which reads "Transfer all audio files after detecting Recorder."

Formated the Olympus ws-100 voice recorder via PC

Did you have a firmware cd with it? Basically you have lost the software which runs it so need to reload it. I would contact the manufacturer and see if they can send you the software and tell you how to load it.

Recording Time

I have one of these recorders, I actually have 4 or 5, since discontinued I believe, and one is stuck at 43 min remaining.

I think that problems start when you remove the battery while
the recorder is / was in the process of recording (or in play mode) I now press stop while recording before opening the battery case to switch a battery

Limited recording time

WS-100: 64 MB
HQ mode: Approx. 4 hours 20 minutes
SP mode: Approx. 8 hours 40 minutes
LP mode: Approx. 27 hours 20 minutes

You can go to the menu of the device and change the recording mode from HQ to SP to get longer recording time. Page 7 of the instructions explains how to change this.

Olympus Voice Recorder WS100

The recorder is not provided with any installation software. It is considered a plug and play device and should connect to Windows XP or Windows Vista and display as a removable disk drive. You can then copy and paste the files from that drive to your hard drive. The files will play using Winodws Media Player.

I'm using a Radio Shack

I use one, too, and it took me a minute to set up right. You need to plug one end into the digital in on your pc, or your recorder, and take the phone line from your phone, put it into the slot on the control, then take the phone jack from the control into your phone. Now, this is for a corded phone, but i cannot imagine it being any different for a cordless, as it, too, plugs into a wall somewhere.

Since I record directly to my pc, using WavePad, i don't know anything about the play button on the controller. I read that it would be used, somehow, to play the recording on the actual tape, but i realy don't know.

Hope that helps.
