My rg 66 signal meater dont work and no sound till it worms up whats wrong

frequency drifting on last number really doesn't make much difference. Lets say you are on CH 1 26.965 and the counter says the frequency is 26.9648 . Its not right but it close enough that its not going to make a whole lot of difference .Signal meter not working is not a problem either . You have to check the schematic for what voltage operates the meter, check to make sure that voltage is there. If it is then you should change the meter., if no voltage then you should check for the solution as to how to get it back. When the radio warms up and you hear people talking take some freeze spray and give the audio IC a shot to see if it still works or not .

Spaltters all over the band

try turning the mic gain down for a start, if that doesn't correct it, sounds like the modulation gains have been maxed, and the transmitter mistuned

I have to keep my rf=gain turned all the way down

The RF limits the signal strength you radio receives. After setting the RF to limit excessive signals, then set your squelch up until the noise is gone. There are some areas which have high RF background noise so adjustments are made often while driving around. Use the ANL (automatic noise limiter) and other features also to control the noise.

SCI 6900 F.TURBO. BUZZING NOISE,

I am going to need a bit more information then that.

Does it do the same thing with other radio's?
Has any one been inside the radio?

The buzzing can be from either a rectifier in the power supply, or some times there is an issue on some 9600 boards that can cause a buzzing.

If its the power supply, then your receive will be poor because the buzzing is killing it.

I went to key up my ranger and i could not get it

Yes, a faulty mic can cause a radio not to transmit or receive. Try another mic and see if it works then. If it will not key up, it could be the final output transistor.

Does it receive?

The s-meter goes down scale when I am modulating.

the reason i saked is that if you turn the power all the way up it tends to reverse modulate. this happens because the power is using all the transmit voltage for the final and the modulation circuit is trying to use as much as it can so the radio is most likly out of alignment and needs to be realigned. its not that hard if you have the service manual and the correct equipment. i have a factory authorized shop and we do alot of realignments due to the cb shops tweaking the 10 meter radios.

I have a 6 wire D104 . How do I wire it to a Ranger 2985 dx ?

Wiring a 6-wire D104 microphone to a Ranger 2985 DX requires connecting the wires in the correct order and configuration. The Ranger 2985 DX has an 8-pin modular plug, and the D104 microphone has a 6-pin modular plug. Here's one way to wire the D104 microphone to the Ranger 2985 DX:
  1. Connect the red wire from the D104 to the 8-pin modular plug's pin 4 (PTT - Push-To-Talk).
  2. Connect the black wire from the D104 to the 8-pin modular plug's pin 5 (Ground).
  3. Connect the white wire from the D104 to the 8-pin modular plug's pin 6 (MIC + Audio).
  4. Connect the blue wire from the D104 to the 8-pin modular plug's pin 7 (Receive Audio)
  5. Connect the green wire from the D104 to the 8-pin modular plug pin 8 (Transmit Audio)
  6. Connect the yellow wire from the D104 to the 8-pin modular plug's pin 3 (UP-Down).
It's important to double-check the wiring configuration with the user manual of the Ranger 2985 DX and the D104 microphone. Some manufacturers have different wiring configurations and it's important to match the wiring accordingly to avoid any damage to the device. It's also worth noting that if you are not comfortable with the wiring process, it's best to consult with a professional technician or a radio expert.

Just got a ranger rci69ffb4 CB radio. I do not know how to operate it. What band number to put it on to talk. There is 1-7 on it. And do I put it on an or ssb mode. Thanks

If you want to talk on AM put it on AM if you want to talk on SSB then put it on SSB. Did you recently purchase this radio? You do realize you need a ham radio license to use this ?If you are on the upper ham bands you better have a license or they will come and get you .Look at the the dial that has 1 - 7 on it. Now take the owners manual and look at the diagram of the knob . It should say something about frequencies and the frequency you need to operate on is from 26.965 to 27.405 MHZ .
