Great comprehensive answer from Larry, with all the reasons why. My thought also, "you can use a bigger battery for the regulation circuitry that is looking to manage a much smaller amps". Power regulating transistors don't like that. Buy APC brand UPS for the specs you need. My place had one the size of a large suitcase., keeps everything, servers, communications and security, running for an hour, but backup generators normally kick in within 5 seconds. UPS smooths the power.

UPS are not the same in all countries due to rules on AC power,
this is a very old UPS, and is tiny 600va , home type, or for POS point of sale terminals (as seen at taco bell?)
well you modified, the UPS did'nt you. called HACKING
and when you to that , it confused the UPS charger (vastly) and the inverter too. or is this normal (it is)
200vac is in spec, did you RTM read your manual, (USP spec) not your needs or you GEAR needs (loads)
why do that?
if you need longer run times you buy a UPS that does allow external battery banks of many sizes.
and when you to it must be configured first so it can function with larger battery banks.
this 600 AVR uses 12vdc 7 or 9AH, amp hour battery only, period. (common used in emerg. lighting)too.
when you remove the internal battery and then jury rig in (hack) any external battery
that does 2 things
huge increases of AH it can not deal with (many not) AH is good , more is good but is it allowed,?
and changes the batteries internal resistance, huge. and confuses it all.
or the UPS needs service (seem not)
why not first put the UPS back as it came new with the correct new battery see if it works now.
if yes you learned not to hack UPS.
the manual is terse. (ours not 230vac but your has same error spec !)

you need to upgrade the UPS (newer UPS are far batter ) like APC brand,
some brand can do , output Regulation to +-5% and have sine wave out far better.
business grade are best.
also some UPS models have strap inside for 200, 220,230,240vac outputs for more country support

where did you buy this UPS, from Canada.
south africa is 230vac and 50Hz so make sure yours is both,
here is one that does, 3 outputs and 5% reg +/-
UPS as a product are complex on the world stage and by features and regulation of output.
for sure sinewave UPS, that lots more things, and noise on the output lines on some are horrible

if you expect cheap made , home USP to have tight output regulation that will not happen.

to buy a UPS< tell what your loads are, first and ask for recommendations.
some things have no trouble at all at 200vac (230 country) nothing told yet. by you.
here in USA 120vac 60Hz, we have some gear that runs down to 90vac ok,
that be near 180vac there, but no needs stated,
