Onkyo HT510 Receiver Questions & Answers
I have Onkyo HT510 receiver. does not turn "ON".
hi, There is a standby transformer inside the Onkyo receiver at the mains input stage. If the standby transformer is faulty then the unit will not power on. There will be two transformers. One is big and the other is a small one. The small tarnsformer is the standby transformer. Which will be fitted on a small board where the power cable is connected. Replace the transformer to rectify this problem.OK

Selecting phono preamp for Onkyo HT-R510
The magnetic cartridge preamp should work with the turntable, as presumably it will have a magnetic cartridge in it. The only reason that the amp states "magnetic" is that some very old turntables have ceramic cartridges which should not be connected to that terminal. Even if the turntable had a "ceramic" it could be replaced with a magnetic one!
My Onkyo receiver works fine except that
take an emery board to the battery contacts on the remote and lightly to the battery ends,at this low a voltage on these remotes any oxidation affects the voltage passed through the contacts to the remote even with new charged up batteries
Onkyo HT R510 is broadcasting all digital and 5.1 from the cable box as pcm
Chances are that Time Warner is just plain wrong. That's what you get with free tech supp....oh, uh right. scratch that.
Your receiver seems to be receiving a 2-channel digital audio signal (PCM) from the cable HD box. With this type of input signal, you can't select Dolby Digital on the receiver.
If you have a Scientific Atlanta 8300 (or a closely similar model):
Press [Settings] button on the remote twice. This will open the General Settings menu. Go to "Audio: Digital Out" and the select Dolby Digital (by hitting [-> Move Right]).
If you have another type of cable box, just review the settings menus until you find something relevant to digital audio out and avoid PCM, stereo or "down conversion", but look for Dolby Digital, DTS or "All".
Please keep in mind, that when connecting devices via HDMI cables, your box may decide it's smarter than you and reset the format of the digital audio back to PCM. This is some possibility of this occurring if the cable box or TV is unplugged and plugged back in.
If you have problems, add the cable box make and model and let me know.
