There is not one person on this earth who can put a finger up in the air and categorically state precisely and unequiivocally what is wrong here............unless they hoe into it's innermost parts in order to find out. I have a onkyo HT-R500

A receiver that recent usually has a detect circuit that keeps the outputs off until speakers are connected . So, if it bows fuses right away , it's really a power supply issue.
Probably the AC rectifier bridge.

Tech service only.

When ever i turn on

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

I dont know how to

Look in the manual.

The only vital connection is a simple composite cable or whatever your unidentified TV requires. The TV has a manual, too, somewhere.

I personally would not bother routing any video from external sources through the receiver as no signal will benefit from the extra cables and connections.

according to the reviews Ive read on this receiver, your right, they have a major heat problem in the output transistors,, the heat sink isn't large enough to keep them from going out or they aren't large enough to handle the power, people have even tried adding a computer fan to the area of the transistors with no good results

I am using Onkyo HT-R320

I don't have a fix but I think the general explanation that could explain both issues would be that the memory for your settings isn't being retained. Check to see if the digital audio source you're having trouble hearing still has its input assigned to it. I'm thinking all your settings go back to 'factory' when you turn it off.

See this entry:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t3692493-onkyo_receiver_memory_power_backup_not

Page 36 of the manual discusses the Memory Preservation theory.

You COULD also try a forced microcomputer reset once just to see if that resolves the issue (same page).

I have an Onkyo AV

Try disconnecting all the speakers and see if it does the same thing. If it doesn't, connect speakers again one at a time to find out which one of them is doing it. Make sure the speakers rating match the output of the amp.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

No sound and dose not

Hello,
Here are some quick things that you can check.
-Make sure there is not a short ciruit at the speakers
-Check fuses on the back if available
-Make sure the receiver is in a well ventilated area.
If you go through this and still dont find the problem, than you most likely will need to get it sent in for repair.
Good Luck

No Suberwoffer sound Green

To check if something is wrong with the sub-woofer ..change the plug in the central outlet ...and see if it works ...If it does it means that something is wrong with the woofer chanel amplifier..chip and need to be changed..
also check the sound mode...in the menu ..not to be on stereo instead of surround..(5=1 mode..) cause in this case you will only have sound on the left right ..
if the outlet for the woofer is dead... connect it with the central until you will solve the issue on a professional ...Usually it works ..cause for the surround with 3 outlets the central is on the same plug with the woofer ..so the signal is similar..

Each time I turn my Onkyo HTR500 on, it goes back

If it still does that with all speakers disconnected the manual and reality would require a trip to the shop for a hands-on analysis.
