How can I hook up BIC F12 subwoofer to Onkyo TX-DS838 receiver? Will the receiver power the subwoofer and other speakers?

Get a RCA cable and connect from your amp where it said Sub Woofer in the Pre Out box in the back of the amplifier top left hand side and take it to the "Sub In" located in the back of your Sub woofer bottom right hand (White round connector). Good Luck!

I can't get all four speaker to play simultaneously, it either speaker A or Speaker B, but not both at same time, what's up with that?

It could be the out-put mode, in the settings on your unit, you can change modes to surround sound, and other veriations.

If the transistor problem where i get it?if i dont find the original transistor then what can i do?

Transistors are transistors regardless of the make of equipment they are in. Printed on the transistor is the value of it. Most electronic retail shops (Jaycar) will have a replacement unit.

Rear surround speaker not working

First of all remove the surround speakers and using a AA cell check if there is noise which will confirm the speakers. now it is important that the surround is activated, so play a DTS DVD and select for the surround. If there is no sound from the speakers though the connection is given correctly then it is fault on the surround amplifier.
You can activate the TEST on the amplifier and listen if all the speakers are activated and calibrated. If not the fault can be the sound processor or the ouput.
In both cases this wwill require that the signals are traced on the board. Since these are highly populated boards placed with vertical slots , to probe might require JIGS to loop connection or the boards cannot be checked on circuit. Also ONKYO will refuse to take amplifier for service if it is tampered and so unless you are equipped properly it is not advisable to probe or tamper.
All what can be done is to remove the boards and look for possible break in connections/connectors, check the surround amplifier power supply , check the main processor connector outputs.
If not refer to Onkyo for an estimate.

Betreffende receiver TX-DS838, heb melding

Onkyo TX-DS838 Receiver. Mine just sparked smoked

Not worth repairing until the root cause of the failure is proven.
The reason being is that you can have it happen again if caused by any of the devices attached to it, such as inefficient speakers.

My onkyo tx-ds838 motor fan do not move

The fan in those Audio System only turns at about 1/4 to 1/3 of the ride of your volume control.
It had been intentionnaly designed like that, to achive a quiet operation at low hearing volume.
But if the fan don't move by cranking up the volume at 1/2 to 5/8 of the volume control (with speakers on). You need to have the fan or the fan power circuit checked by technician.

System Protect mode after a Flash fire.

The flash probably was a small resistor burning. While not particualrly common, it does happen. The output transistors are shorted and need to be replaced. If the same channel is bad as the first time, there is a possability that the unit was not completely repaired. Some shops only change the shorted transistor within the transistor pair. This is poor practice and usually leads to another failure of the same channel Check your previous invoice for the parts replaced. The entire complimentary pair of output transistors should have been replaced. If only 1 iof the 2 were replaced, you may have an argument for a warranty repair.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

TX-DS838 shows protect and then shuts down

yes , Im afraid you have a chip gone , If you open the unit up you'll see a alloy heatsink with 4 to 8 large chips screwed to it , These are the amp drivers , In between these chips you see a smaller one (that is the protect chip),You see when things get a little hot this chip is designed to break sooner that the more expensive main amp chips , In the past ive unsoldered these and still found the amp driver bust too ,dont worry though , maplins or even farnell(cpc) on the web will supply these for less than a tenner..If you wanna test my fix then just unsolder the littlest chip on the main heatsink and it should start to work again but with NO protection(unplug it first before taking it to bits)
