will the main light come on when plugged in? it might just need a new bulb. if so it might be a dead battery

I just bought a retro rechargeable sealed battery,recently. I charged it for 18 hours,the lights all worked,but I don't remember the green light comming on.i put the lantern away for 3 months or so.i decided to check the the battery light out first week of june, the light was there,then I said let me charge it up again, I never seen any green light come on showing it was fully charged. I took the battery out and checked the wires to see if there was a break. None that I could tell. After you take the battery out ,there is another section square that covers where the bulb is located,but I didn't touch that part yet. Stuck" on this one. Help"

Brentonb, In the event that you don't get a direct answer (which is likely, since this is a pretty obscure question) I suggest you troubleshoot it this way. Remove the bad battery. Use the charging device that came with the lantern and wire it temporarily to the device in place of the battery. This will supply the correct voltage, but takes the possibly shorted battery out of the circuit. If you are certain you have the polarity correct and you know that the charger works, then you have your answer. good luck.

Question edited for clarity, and remove some 'words' not needed. There is no manual, but for all these lights, it is a tube, threaded both ends. A tail cap on one end and the Cree light module and reflector on the other. this means the battery is not retaining charge, check battery terminal and charger, if problem is still the same then battery needs to be replaced.
