Heater stop working found small metal piece with plastic with hook

This heater was the determined cause of my total loss house fire. I thought the company would atleast help me find some where else to live, they seem to care. But, as of lately they are doing nothing.
I am told this heater-(prh11- 2008 model- purchased at walmart for about $27.00)
- Had wiring that wasn't up to standards
-1/10,000 units cause fires
-something wrong with the heating element-stops working
- wouldn't stand level
-heating coils
-fires like mine have happened to a few other people

Check sensor lead for shortingand verify furnace is grounded properly. 8 BLINKS External lockout (ignition recycles exceeded where flame is established and then lost)Check items for exceeded retries listed above and verify valve is not dropping out allowing flame to be established and then lost. 9 BLINKS Grounding or Reversed polarity Verify the control and furnace are properly grounded. Check and reverse polarity (primary) if incorrect. 10 BLINKS Module gas valve contacts energized with no call for heat Verify valve is not receiving voltage from a short. If a valve wiring is correct and condition persists, replace module. 11 BLINKS Limit switch open - possible blower failure overheating limit Possible blower failure, restricted air flow through appliance or duct work. Verify continuity through limit switch circuit and correct overheating cause. 12 BLINKS Module Ignitor contact failure Fault code indicates the module ignitor contacts are not functioning properly. Replace module.Solid Module - internal fault condition Module contacts for gas valve not operating or processor fault. Reset control. if condition persists replace module. 3 double 2nd-stage Pressure Switch Stuck Open/Inducer Error Check pressure switch function and tubing. Verify inducer.

1500 watts is 1.5 kilowatts. Run it for 1 hour and you have 1.5 kilowatt hours. My electricity costs .08 per kilowatt hour so, when I run my 1500 watt space heater, it costs me a whopping .12 per hour to operate. I can afford 12 cents per hour, compared to oil at $3.50 per gallon and a burner that burns up to 3 gallons per hour.

Yes, they should have a set screw built in, or they will simply pull off without much effort. If the knob does not pull off without much resistance, then look around it for a hole with a allen screw inside. If this is the case, just loosen the screw and the knob will come off no problem.

Almost every manufacturer will supply free parts for new equipment that is missing them.
Call them and let them know and I'm sure they will mail them to you.

Yes it would seem that the thermostat or the knob would be the problem...when checking for voltage you need to check for 220v across the two terminals for the heating element. You will have 120 feeding back and forth all over the place but the fan and element will only work if they have 220... so you can have voltage and it still not work...

If there are many other loads on the same circuit, the breaker is likely to trip.

YOu are asking a question that cannot be properly answered without knowing more of the situation. If this crawl space is subject to large air drafts and there are air vents that allow openess to this area, then you cannot be sure of the results. Since it will be winter, the humidity build-up is not so much a factor and you should take steps to isolate this area from air movement. Then you can apply heat. You may want to make a temporary plywood barrier around this area so your heat stays confined, thereby using the minimal heat needed to keep the temp you want. The heater will most likely handle the job; you should get a thermometer and keep the space at 40 degrees farenheit or slightly higher. When the warm weather arrives, remember to open the air venting again.

Twin ceramic heaters are intense, but, not intended for indoor use without adequate ventilation.They radiate heat and patton is a reputable brand in heating devices.
