When turn on color fades away to blur

The image is generated by the processor. If the color fades after some time it means that the processor is starting to overheat and malfunctions. Open the back of the tv and clean the radiator glued on the processor, then clean and test the fans . Also make sure all the air holes from the case are clean.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be the issue with Y-main however, Y-buffer and the logic board should also be checked. These boards are located on the right side of the unit and to check them you’ll have to open the back of the unit. Once you have opened the back also check for any blown/bulged capacitors.
All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when in off position. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

I am trying to connect my mp3 player to my Vizio VX42L

In most cases the TV's have a "video mute" feature that will block the audio until the set detects a video signal in the corresponding video port. You either have to have a way to turn the video mute off or run a video signal into the video input that corralates with the input you are wanting to connect your mp3 palyer to.

TV turns off on its own, have to keep turning it

We have placed a fan on TV and it has solved the problem. I guess it was over heating but for no obvious reason, other than we live in the tropics with no A/C in that room but lots of ventilation.

\\\SPIDER WEBBED FROM CENTER OF SCREEN. VIZIO 46

The plasma display is cracked, this is unfixable, the tv is dead.
If you got it this way then take it back.
If the tv was ok but the crack appeared by itself then it should be covered by the warranty.
If the crack has appeared because you hit the screen then i'm sorry to say that that's it, time for a new tv and more money for it.

Picture shifts to left

I had the offset left issue for non-HD channels with my Panasonic 42" plasma, using Comcast HD cable box. Went into the configuration menu (to get there with the newer Comcast boxes, you have to turn the box off, then hit the menu button on the box immediately after). You will see on the menu a resolution (probably says 1080i), then below it a "4:3 override". Our said 480i. When I changed it to "none", so that it stayed 1080i, it worked! It also works by selecting 480p, but then the picture is stretched.

Vertical blue lines appeared on the screen with no sound.

Hello,

All plasma an LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em. Good luck.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the audio with a DVD player or cable box. Also try using component cables if using a RCA component cable or vice versa. Check that all of the cables are plugged into the back of the TV & MUTE button is not pressed. Do a hard reset by unplugging the power cord for more than 4 hours and power it again, then go into the on-screen-menu and make sure the sap is off and stereo in on. Also try audio from Phone and 3.5mm jacks (if equipped). If this all didn't resolves the issue then it is an Audio IC or bad speakers/speaker connection. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved else revert for further assistance.

Vizio P42 model Sp42 A

I had the same problem. I bought the TV with the same symptoms and couldn't find a solution. So just on a hunch I tried different button combinations on the front of the TV while I turned the main power switch on in the rear. One I got to the Channel up and Channel down the TV came to life and works great. So just hold those 2 buttons down at the same time while you flip the switch on the back. Hold them for about 10 seconds and then you should be good to go.

Humming sound

Samsung states - A buzzing sound from your plasma TV is normal. It is caused by the electrical charges used to create the images on the screen. The buzzing, however, should not be so loud that you can hear it when the volume on the TV is set at normal levels. It is also important to determine the type of buzzing sound. A sound like a ground hum is completely normal. This buzzing can originate near the power cord connection or from the SMPS board position on the upper back of the TV. The buzz will be more audible as contrast increases on the screen, most notably when displaying an all white screen. If the buzzing sound is loud, you may have the Contrast set too high. Lower the contrast to reduce or eliminate the buzzing. You may also have loud buzzing if the rear of your Plasma TV is too close to a wall or other hard surface. Try moving your TV away from the wall until the buzzing is minimized. [1]
If the buzzing is at a higher frequency and resembles a crackling sound (like the sound of Velcro being pulled apart), and originates from the upper middle back of the TV, you likely have a failing SMPS board. Place a support call with Samsung to have the SMPS board replaced.FP-T5084 Have a known buzzing problem with a very simple fix.If the buzzing is coming from the left or right sides of the rear and the volume can be changed by pressing lightly on those locations, you are probably hearing the vibration of the grounding springs on the back panel. Call Samsung (or whoever) and have a technician confirm the problem. The easiest fix is to insulate the offending spring by applying some felt tape.

I am having an issue with a 42 inch vizio plasma Power Supply

Ahem, forgive me for being upfront...I am trying to help you, not to offend you, so bear that in mind.

Your language is quite non-technical and would be easy to follow; respectively it would be hard for you to follow instructions before first getting some education about diodes, capacitors, rectifiers etc.

And given the apparent lack of experience servicing electronics on your end I would suggest that possibly the easiest way to get your TV up and running is to buy a new power board.

I was thinking of offering you to send me yours for service, but considering you can get a working one on eBay for $70 delivered I don't think it's worth the attempt.

Once you get a working board you can start comparing the two with an ohm-metter and see if you can find which component is faulty.

I am not saying that;'s the best way to do it, of course, but if you want to spend time learning things it's a good way to start.

Hello, My names Dave and I can tell you that you all most likely have a bad Z sustain or Y sustain board! The good news is that most of the time if either of these boards are bad you will find a blown fuss one them! I have worked on this same model of TV many times! You can lay the TV face down very gently and remove the back cover from the TV and test the fuses on the Z & Y sustain boards to confirm which one of the two are bad!

Z sustain board! P/N's: 6871QZH956A or 6871QZH056B Here is a link to the Z sustain with a picture of the board so you'll know what you're looking for http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6871qzh056b-zsus.htm

If you look at the Z sustain board you'll see that there are two white fuses on the board FS1 & FS2 are the location #'s. There is also a third fuse (FS3) it is a surface mount type fuse and can be easily over looked. Just locate the 8 pin main plug right next to the other two fuses and you can't miss it. It's smaller and it will have gold2_bing.gif colored ends on it and it to is white with the location # FS3 next to it!! If any of these fuses are blown you will need to replace the board to complete the repair! You will need to test the fuses for continuity with a DMM (Digital Multimeter) Do to the fact that you will not be able to just look at the fuses and be able to tell if they are good or bad!

You'll also want to test the three fuses (FS1, FS2, FS3) on the Y sustain board P/N's: 6871QYH953A 6870QYH005B ! Here's a link to a picture of this board also. http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalog/product/view/id/179043/s/ysus-6871qyh953a/

Two of the fuses (FS2 & FS3) on the Y sustain are easy to find because they are normal white fast acting type fuses! The third fuse is also a surface mount type fuse and can be easily over looked. Just locate the 9 pin main plug right next to the other two fuses and you can't miss it. It's smaller and it will have gold colored ends on it and it to is white with the location # FS1 next to it!

If any of these fuses are blown you'll need to replace the board to complete the repair! You will need to test the fuses for continuity with a DMM (Digital Multimeter) Do to the fact that you will not be able to just look at the fuses and be able to tell if they are good or bad!
