Hamilton Beach Beach 87108 Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
I just purchased a hamilton beach microwave. The
follow this steps for troubleshooting and fix it. God bless you
- Inspect the power cordUnplug
the power cord and check for voltage at the outlet. Also inspect for
damage, shorts, or burn marks that can be a possible safety hazard.
- Bad door switchIf your
microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in
properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks
and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your
terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading
of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If
these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is
necessary.
- Blown fusesTo determine
if your fuse has blown out, which may attribute to your microwave not
running, you need to pull the fuse out using a pair of fuse pullers. Lay
it down and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check both ends of the fuse
in question. If you do not get a reading of zero, then you will need to
replace the fuse.
- Bad fan motorLocate the
fan and remove the leads. Again using the volt-ohm meter on RX1, check
the terminals. If an infinity reading is displayed, it means that the
fan has gone bad and requires replacement.

Dispose of it, and seek a new one... This one is operating dangerously, please don't try to fix it, they hold enormous amounts of residue charge.
When I open microwave oven door . close the door again light comes on an plate spins an wont stop unless I unplug it
Inside the door latch, is a safety feature, that prevents the microwave from operating unless the door is closed. This feature can easily become faulty, or even come with the fault already causing the microwave to constantly operate whenever the door is closed.
Microwaves can be very dangerous in regard to holding HEAPS of voltage within the unit. I recommend getting yourself a new microwave, as attempting repairs on any of the modern units can, more often than not, be far more costly then the price of a new one.
Hope this helps.
Micro board is burnt up
Anthony, I have purchased what they call wave guide material from a company called QB Products. You can try Google to find if there is someone close to you that might have what you need. Catalog that I have is old but the number for the smallest size they list is 40QBP1012. That is for a piece 10" x 12". Hope this helps you. Make sure that when you take out the old cover that you clean the area underneath because what causes the burning is grease and food particles that get splattered up there and they get very hot and start causing the burning that you see.
Between 1st and 2nd use
you will have to remove the case there should be a fuse close to were the power cord comes in check that!
