Too much bass

I didn't know that a turntable had bass control on it. If it has why not turn the bass down? I think it is your receiver not the turntable

My turntable doesn't rotate any more...

Hi, the transformer that supplies power to the motor has been fried by the 220v input and will need to be replaced. If you remove it and go to your local electronic parts supplier they should be able to sell you a replacement. Cheers John styluscity.com

A week after I bought

Just turn up the weight on the arm slowly bit by bit till the problem stops. The weight should have numbers on it - set it at 2 and increase it. You will have to stop the record playing each time you increase the weight. Also look around to see if it has an Anti-skate control, if it has again increase that in stages. It's all down to trial and error setting up a turntable, there's no correct way and it depends also on the records too and quality of them.

Audio-Technica AT-LP120 turntable. I have crackling in the passive speaker, but when I reverse the speaker wire,ie, red in black & black in red, the crackle appears in the powered speaker.

If you have replaced the cartridge then it must be the cartridge pre-amp that is faulty. If there are any other functions on the device such as CD, then it will not effect them. Unless there is crackling on any other function then the pre-amp has a problem. The pre-amp itself is generally a single IC. You can find it by following the turntable connection back to the inside of the amp. The signals will pass through the IC before being passed to the main pre-amp.
