This is commonly caused by out of regulation supply to your output IC. The reason why is your unit have the ff fault:
1. Dry joints on the main filter electrolytic capacitor, also on the amplifier cirtcuit board. Cold solder is hart to spot so you need to locate it perfectly.
2. Leaky filter capacitor on the B+ section,pre-amplifier section,output section.
This is not diy and i've advice you to look for a qualified tech to isolate the problem.

I assume you mean the TV sound only comes out of the TV. THAT would involve internal audio controls at the TV.

Why don't you just connect the TV-related audio directly from each source to the DAV instead of through the TV, which adds NOTHING to the sound quality and may even degrade or limit it.

There is not reason this would click and not turn on. If it just clicked, it would likely be caused by interference from another appliance, typically a fridge or freezer. The record deck is known as a PS-LK47P. If you wish, another deck will work as long as it has a magnetic cartridge and no preamp built in. A Technics SL-1200 is the sort that is fine and a definate upgrade.
