Can't figure out how to adjust VCR tracking
Hello,
Open the player, use cotton wool and methylated spirit to clean the play head of your tape player and the picture will be clear. It is dirt that is making the picture shaky.
Its not all the time that tracking can solve the problem. So clean the player's play head and all will be well.
Please don't apply too much spirit and make sure you dry it with a dry wool. Also make sure the player is turned off and removed from electricity before you proceed for the cleaning.
This is the help that I can render to you.
Good luck.
My quasar started given me problems
Hi, try getting a VHS Head Cleaner; if that don't work? try ajusting the tracking system on the remote. Modern VHS Cassette Players, and or recorders, usally have (Auto Tracking) built-in. Thanks paul7of9

Hook up RCA jacks or a cable from the back of the vcr to the tv?
I want to program the
as long as the remote supports menu function and that quasar model then it will let you set it up in there
Quasar omnivision 4 head clcok
You do not need the remote - you can access the menu manually.
- Take out (eject) the tape;
- press the 2 Channel buttons ("up" and "down") simultaneously;
- follow the menu as easily as you did when you did have the remote and you can change all the clock settings;
- press the FF button for >, the REW button for <, the PLAY button for UP and the STOP button for DOWN.
- when finished, exit the menu with the simultaneous pressing of the Channel UP & DOWN buttons.

I have not heard of one that doesn't have the selector switch to change to 3 or 4, Could it perhaps be in the front behind a door or just somewhere else?
Tape won't play
These old Quasars (matshushita made) have underdesigned power
supplies. The electrolytic caps on the output voltages need high
voltage ratings. Does it make a high pitch sing? Your unit
is running out of power when it gets to the most difficult part of its
loading sequence. Try replacing all those caps. Some guy at
Matsushita (Panasonic, Magnavox, Quasar) designed many many VCR's and
it took him about 10 years to learn that electrolytic caps don't work
too good at the high frequencies that switching power supplies have
gone to.
Hope Ya Fix It.
Use of tv channel 3 or 4
You either have to choose either 3 or 4 or - instead of connecting to
your TV through its tuner, go directly to the Audio/Video inputs using
A/V cable (also known as RCA cable - probably has red, white, and
yellow ends) Connect it from the color coded outputs on the VCR
to the similar inputs on the TV. The TV may have several sets to
choose from. Take you choice, but set the TV's input selector to
this same designation when you want to watch the VCR. Sometimes
its is called "VIDEO" sometimes A/V, sometimes "AUX"
Cable will only get up to 26 channels
Go into the setup menu for the tuner and make sure it is set for the
right type of cable and initiate the channel auto search
function. Try all the possibilities.
VHS Tape recording time mode
There should be either a switch or button on the front panel
that changes the display panel to reflect mode change
If not then If you have osd then you will have to change
speeds via the osd record mode or timer mode (if exist)

Quasar VCRs at least used to be manufactured by Panasonic. I googled for a cross reference (Quasar model to identical Panasonic) but didn't come up with what looks like a quick cross.
I'd go to Panasonic's site and look:
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/VCRs/VCRs.list.75431
Did you also get the matching remote? If so, advanced setup should be easy. If not, obtain a remote with the needed capabilities, as advanced functions cannot be done with the VCR located buttons (most late VCRs anyway).

I am not conversant with VCRs sold in the United states, but - a VCR is a VCR is a VCR.
So, can i suggest an alternate solution to your problem?
Why not use the AV out sockets of your VCR and hook them to the AV IN sockets of your TV? In this manner, you you also get a better image. And of course, you feed In the signal source (Antenna, cable Box, etc) directly to the TV, and use your remote to switch to AV mode whenever you desire to watch movies or Tape.
Internally change channel 3 to 4 on VCR
Hi,
In most VCRs, as you have posted, there is a switch at the back where you can select the output to either Ch 3 or 4. In some cases, the switch is deep inside and you have to remove a small squarish rubber covering to expose the hole. It is normally close to the antenna input/output. More often than not it is a simple sliding 2 position switch. You would need any tool that can reach and sturdy enough to slide the switch.
Internally program output channel selector is very possible, I would guess that its selectable via the menu set-up tabs.
A question pls, How did you "I tried to manually change the channel to 4, but the VCR reverted back to channel 3..."
Hope this be of some help to you. Pls post again how things turn up or further information. Good luck and kind regards.
