There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). I'm going to second the power supply board failure. This is a common problem. You could likely purchase another on ebay. Search by the TV model number.

Yes your screen is broken it can be replaced but I cannot tell you the cost until you tell me the suffix(its a row of letters aat the grey label next to your model ) par example 42ld450 za.aeuwljg this says to us what kind of screen and parts does your tv set has. please provide these letters and i'll be able to provide you with more info .hope that this was somehow helpful

First place to look is main power supply at the caps.

tried to re seat first the LVDS cable in the T-con board which may have loose connection. if can get with re seating the cable look for a loose or dry joints and component in the T-con board and re soldered it.

Have you checked whether the battery (cells) is fine? If you have a SW Radio, switch it on, tune it to a place where there are no stations, take the new remote near to it and press various buttons. If you can listen to clicking noise, the remote is ok. The problem might then be in the sensor. A capacitor leaky or dry.

The TV is going into protection mode. Could be a problem with moisture. Can you try warming up the rear with a hair drier? Ensure that you do not apply too much heat to avoid damage to plastic parts. No one can tell you what will fix the set---I would suspect the power board but it can and could be another board--some tests are needed and if you are not able to do them you either have to start guessing or have a expert examine the set---in the end they will have to guess also but it will be an educated guess.

However if you cannot, or do-not wish to DIY, then the very best thing you can do to effect a repair is to contact an LG local or head office and ask them for a referral to an authorised service center, when in contact here and when face to face then ONLY first ask for a "Quote" as to what's wrong and prospective costings and go from there.
