Hi, here is the Eaton page (Eaton acquired Powerware about 5 years ago) with the user manual for the 9120. It doesn't make sense for a 1000 9120 to not have batteries: http://powerquality.eaton.com/EMEA/Products-services/Legacy/Legacy-Products.asp. Power ware has a powerpass bypass switch for $200.00.

There is two inputs on this bypass switch. One for power, and one for the generator.

One ouput for your UPS. There you have it... There is your soluiton. I might add one other thing called a Power Guard, PMM117, to monitor the power of the backup generator. The time delay of this device will prevent over current from cooking your UPS power supply.

They also have a Hardwired version that is more expensive for you 5, 6 ,10KVA UPS. So a automatic bypass switch is what you need.

Sounds like it is not regulating the voltage and current charging the batteries. Consult a service manual to look for a repair method.

It either means the ground wire in extension cord is not there or is open. It could also mean that the outlet wasn't wired with a ground back to the panel.

You can check the battery fuse or the charging fuse. If it's more then that it's going to be a very costly fix.
