Kettle does not automatically shut off

I think that standards require an auto-shutoff on electric pots to keep the component from softening down. You could override the shutoff by either taping over the switch or utilizing an elastic band. You can check deep details on electric kettle review sites.

Stopped Working!

Have had same problem several times. My fix was to remove the five screws on the underside of the pot and lube all the plastic linkage with WD-40. Apparently the linkage gets a bit warped with heat. The pot lasted about five years and today the switch contacts melted inside. I doubt that parts are available, so...

What level should water be at before turning unit on?

There should be a line to show you on the inside of the kettle where the watermark is.

My electric kettle is starting to break.

It sound like the temperature sensor that switches the kettle off when it has reached the correct temperature is faulty. It would probably be cheeper to replace than repair

in this case i would say the element has burned out they are not a servicable unit and would be cheaper to replace than fix

Chefs choice electric kettle 677 works sometimes

I have the same problem and I tried to open the base to clean the contact points but found that it is molded into one piece and would have to be cut open and then glued shut when finished. I am about to pull out the file for the kettle contacts because its headed for landfill If I do nothing so I cant make it worse. I am going to file the contacts until itere a little shiny.
