there are some alternatives one being,using external cd rom drive and the other finding a usb/thumbdrive os.external rom is the easiest as it'll work just like a normal cd drive

You press the F11 key at start up and you should be presented with the Gateway System Recovery option. That will allow you to restore your computer to it's originally installed state. Hold down ALT Gr or Alt Car and tap the F10 when the system turns on , you will get recovery console , select restore system to factory defaults ,
if system is booting into windows go to Start Menu - All Programs- Gateway - Recovery manager - restore - restore system to factory defaults ,
this will wipe all the documents , pictures everything in the system

You will need a razor blade.

Where the black flat part of your screen meets the silver outlining there is a crease. Take the razor blade and slide it through the **** all the way around the screen. You might need to pull up on the black flat part with the razor blade to get it to unsnap. Then inside you will see the screen and a bunck of screws. Unscrew all the BLACK screws. Then pull the scrren forward. It will be screwed in on a metal rod on both sides. On the side of the metal rods will be some screws. Unscrew theses screws, then the screen will come out. You are not finished yet. The screen will be hook up to a a chord in on its back. Unplug the end that is hooked directly into the screen. You may need to take some tape off in the process. Then do the reverse steps with a new screen.

1. You may have a bad power supply adapter. It may not have recharged the battery
2. Contact the manufacturer and see if you can get a replacement power supply.
There are some power supply adapters on Ebay for some models. check there it may be cheaper. I purchased several for my Dell and they are very well put together and I had them for almost 2 years no problems.
