Is there an SD card slot on the Dell OPTIPLEX 780?

There is no card reader on most models of the Optiplex 780. There may be a card reader on the SFF unit. The MT, desktop and USFF do not include a card reader. You can add a 3.5" internal card reader to the MT or desktop models for under $20. You could use an external USB card reader with any Optiplex 780.I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

What error is indicated by six beeps on a computer that uses AMI BIOS?

It could be a faulty expansion card or the motherboard itself. Six beeps is indicative of hardware failure However, the first thing you should do is to open the cover and make sure that the RAM and the cards are seating properly. Take them out on give them a quick clean. It may be a 'dry joint' that causes the beeps.

When istart the computer cant log in ,eventhough my user name and password is correct

A log-on loop on your Windows XP computer is a difficult situation where the computer never completes its boot cycle, restarting intermittently ad nauseam.

This issue indicates a major problem with the boot functionality of your XP system.

Restore the computer to working order by utilizing the repair and restoration utility on your XP system disk.

Insert the XP disk into the computer.

Restart the computer.

Press any key when prompted to boot from the disk.

Press "Enter" at the first screen and "F8" at the license terms.

Highlight the drive containing XP and press "R," repairing the operating system boot files and removing the log-on loop.

orWindows XP sometimes has a glitch when you are logging in to your user account in order to boot the operating system.

The glitch logs you in and then logs you off the account.

This problem is usually caused by one of the programs that load during the computer's start-up.

Fixing this issue is a matter of ensuring that whatever program is causing the problem doesn't start up as soon as you start your computer.

or

Power on the computer and allow it to get to the user logon page normally.

There is no need to start up the computer in "safe mode."

Click the user who is having the issue and type in the user's password if one is set up.

Press and hold the "shift" button on your computer keyboard as soon as you see the tool bar load up at the bottom of the screen but before any other program has a chance to do so.

This stops any "Startup" program from running and logging you off.

Right-click the "Start" button on the bottom left of your screen.

Select "Explore" from the menu that appears.

Double-click "Programs" from the list on the left side of the window that pops up.

Double-click "Startup."

Select all the files inside the "Startup" folder by dragging a box over them.

Right-click anywhere on the selected files.

Select "Delete" to delete those files.

Note that deleting the programs from the "Startup" folder does not delete them from your computer.

All this does is make it so that these programs no longer start as your computer is starting so that any error in the running of the programs doesn't interfere with logging in to your account.

Hope this helps

Hi mmm it sounds to me like your motherboard has got some problems. sometimes running system tests through the boot menu may help but should indicate weather you need a new motherboard or not. Sometimes a good clean inside computer is the way to go as well... Hope this helps Kindest regards

Hi there, how can I fix the problem of I/O card parity interrupt at F000:F188 when appeared at starting my computer?

It sounds like one of the 3rd party cards has died. If you have a firewire card I would start by removing that and performing several cold boots (boot the computer, then completely shut it down as opposed to rebooting) If that doesn't fix it continue with the other cards, one at a time and replacing the previous card, until the issue is resolved. If you're still under warranty, call dell and request a repair.

Why is dell optiplex 780 lights 1 & 3 ok and power button amber?

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

You WILL get blinking lights. It is either disk activity .. the computer is doing something (even if you are not using it..) .. If your computer works fine, then all is fine. Lights on computers ... show when it is powering up, loading/downloading .. active. Normal.. Do you have an actual problem?
