How can I get my wireless printer to communicate with my laptop? I broke my installation CD

You should be able to download all the files you need from Lexmarks website.

Message on PC screen tells me "printer is busy"

Make sure there are no print jobs stuck in the queue. If you're using Windows, go to the Control Panel > Printers > double-click on the Lexmark print object. Delete all print jobs pending. If you can't clear all print jobs, follow the steps below:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service)


Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.


Reboot your computer. Then, try to scan again.

Replacement Printhead for lexmark Impact S305 purchased, fitted/installed with no successful outcome?

After you changed the printhead, even full cartridges need some time to fill up the head. So just copy a newspaper, put in a normal sheet of paper, and tell the printer it is a Photo, with Photo paper. It then will press the most ink. If one of the colours start, it could take a complete A4 photo, before all colours are coming through. I assume you did install the new head correct and not something else was defect before you started to change the head anyway. Because when something else was defect in the first place, a new head won't change that.

Just reinstalled windows 8. Now printer (Lexmark s305) will not print. It is connected through the internet; but says "no communication" when hit "print". What am I missing?

firstly printing through a network need to ensure you have internet access weather home or form the office.second having correct printer driver is very important. uninstall old drivers check devices manager for installation and devices details. if the problem persist check your USB printer cable the following link should be of help. http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2009-fall/v9842009_en.pdf

Having to replace cartridge way too often when still have alot of ink in it

Check and see is the printer sitting over a heat source like home heater / water heater or electric heater. External heat will dry up ink. Try to relocate printer and computer to a cooler spot.

How let Lexmark S305 only

Please follow the steps below on how to print using black ink only on your Lexmark S305 printer:
For Windows:
  1. With your document/file open, click File.
  2. Click Print.
  3. Click Printing Preferences/ Properties.
  4. In the Lexmark S300 Series Printing Preferences window, select print using black ink only.
  5. Click OK to save the settings.
  6. Click Ok again to print your file.

For Mac operating system:
  1. With your document/file open, click File.
  2. Click Print.
  3. Expand the arrow pointing down beside printer name if you're not able to see other options for printing. Look for Quality and Media in a drop down box and select print in black and white.

If you wish to set this as your default print setting, please follow steps below:
For Windows:
  1. Go to Control Panel.
  2. Open Printers and Faxes.
  3. Right-click on Lexmark S300 Series print object and click on Properties.
  4. In the Lexmark S300 Series Properties window, go to Advanced tab. Click on Printing Defaults.
  5. Under Ink Use, select Print using black ink only. Click OK.
  6. Click OK button in the Lexmark S300 Series Properties window to save the changes.
Your printer will print in black only the next time you send a print job to the printer.

For Mac:
  1. With the file (you wish to print) open, click File.
  2. Click Print.
  3. Expand the arrow pointing down beside printer name if you're not able to see other options for printing. Look for Quality and Media in a drop down box and select print in black and white.
  4. Save this as your default print setting. Click Presets option and choose Save as. You can personalize the name for this default print setting (e.g. Black and White Draft or My Setting).

Select this Preset name every time you print your files/documents.
Note: The 100 standard cartridges yield around 175 ISO Pages. You can also save on ink and stretch your ink investment if you use only 100XL high yield cartridges. These contain almost 3x as much ink as a standard cartridge for a small increment in price.

Impact s305 printer won't scan. it's

Try using the Lexmark Printer Home when scanning. If you have a PC, to access it click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Printer Home. You can scan to a .jpeg, PDF or .doc.If you're scanning from the control panel of your printer and you're getting an error message, "Cannot Retrieve Application List", most probably your firewall is blocking your printer from downloading the applications. You might want to add the Lexmark files in the exception of your firewall. Printer wont print colours supply levels were ok but just installed new cartridges but still wont print colours. What to do????

Make sure that you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges. If you are, try the steps below:- Update the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.- Perform a maintenance on the cartridges. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead.If you still have the same problem after performing those steps, it could be a problem with the printhead. You might want to contact Lexmark's technical support.
