My projector has a new lamp but the image shows white no color

Do you have a DMD chip installed? This is what makes the image. You also need a colour wheel. If you have just replaced the bulb, and it working before, then make sure that you open the projector in a clean environment, and then check you can see the DMD chip and the colour wheel. 25662706-4bebqcy5hyqgttlipldbqgoj-1-2.jpg 25662706-4bebqcy5hyqgttlipldbqgoj-1-4.jpg

Is this compatible with windows 8

This device should not rely on Windows Drivers so compatiblity should not be an issue. However the computer needs a VGA output or S-Video output. You will most likely need a 3.5 mm headphone type plug into the headphone jack of the P.C. and on the other end a rfc plugs. http://www.4cabling.com.au/stereo-3-5mm-jack-to-2-x-red-white-rca-2m.html?gclid=CJ2GpveT28QCFVNwvAodrhkAMA#.VR8QWOE_xhI A vga cable from P.C to projector may be needed. If a laptop one of the function keys will switch the dual modes of the video card. f4 on my laptop may be different on your laptop. http://www.miniinthebox.com/vga-male-to-male-cable-1m_p1051840.html?currency=AUD&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping&gclid=CJvWyb6U28QCFUkDvAod4oEAGg check what gender you need on each end and buy a matching cable. The one in the link is male to male . Check your devices to see if they have female sockets.

How can I delete a used projector's previous owner's password/settings?

unfortunately for you - mitsubishi abandoned they excellent projection division and most of they electronics division in 2013. you should have this procedure (return to factory settings) in your manual. i do not know this particular model but on some of them you need to switch off, held selection button and switch power on, holding the select for about 20 sec. check combination of the buttons and one of them will work. if you have disk (some of them were supplied with cd) there should be little program on it which will allow you to control the projector from computer, it should have reset function somewhere on it. try this site - but they are notorious for looooooong waiting time for answer: http://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au/163.htm hope aty least one of them will work for you - do not forget to vote...

Projector is working but

Have you changed the brightness setting or put the projector into eco mode. ?

Also see what mode your dvd player is in (same on projector) they can have film modes which reduce the brightness.

My Projector: Mitsu. XL8U My Problem:

Hi

I had this same problem with mine, not the same make as yours but I imagine the same fix. I am looking at my remote now as I know by holding down one of the buttons and or one on the projector that it opens up the menu again.

Do you have an autosync botton on the projector? and have you tried leaving the power off for 20 minutes?

Please bare with me I am going through the motions now with my own trying to make the fault again.
Regards
Dan

Powers on for only a few seconds

if the power light blinks and the status light is off, check the lamp door. if the power light blinks and the status light is steady red or blinking green, you have a power supply/ballast issue. you may have to send it in for repair. try www.avsolutionsny.com.

Yelloy spot

Depending on what it is if it looke like a scorch mark the it is not the Optical Engine (prism) it is more likely to be the polerising filter most are quite esly changed and would cost about £15 ($30) for parts and about twice that to get them fitted at a service center, if it is pixel dots then it is a LCD replacement and not worth doing.

Mitsubisi XL8U

The XL8U will tell you when the lamp needs replacement. There is a yellow box that will appear telling you so. The lamp is easy to replace, the model number is VLT-XL8LP.

Lamp Meter: Where do I look for it?

On the Control Panel, if you press the up-arrow, enter, and down-arrow buttons at the same time you get the usage screen. The hard part is selecting the three buttons at the same time. It takes me multiple tries to get the combination correctly.
