My comfort zone cz792 utility heater will come on and fan will blow and it will stop thn start then stop and was not doing this a week ago when i first bought it. what is causing this?

With the heater unplug from power source, check for continuity between the two terminals on the thermostat. If you get an indication on your multi-meter of infinity, then the contacts of the thermostat are working correctly. No indication of continuity, is probably because the contacts ofthe thermostat have burned out and have decrease in thickness, breaking the circuit. I know of no place in which you can find a replacement thermostat. The contacts on the particular heater where evidently designed of inferior material. I have had two and had the same problems with both. You get what you paid for.

Coils aren't glowing red

Most of the new heaters dont glow red. Its a safety thing so it dont catch your sheets or curtains, couch, chair etc on fire. Because of the idiots in this world we cant get a good heater anymore. Thats just the way it is.

Purchased model CZ792 in November 2010. Round

Kat, first you will need you Proof of Purchase, then contact the Manufacturer at the number provided in the your Owner's Manual. Then call them to find out how that want it returned for repair or replacement or they may direct you to an authorized service center. Make sure you have the correct model number & serial number of the heater before you call. Do Not send it to them without their authorization, as they probably will not accept it.

The above is generally how Warranties are handled..

Keep shutting off

I would be careful with a electric heater. The fan must not be moving the heat from the elements. Low air flow. It sounds like it is going out on high limit. Please unplug and do not use. You may need a new fan. It would be cheaper purchasing a new heater.

Hope this helped you...Jim

When we first bought the

when you first bought the heater even if it wasnt "red" as you say did you get heat from it? now those type of heaters are good when they work. First the heater has 2 settings say low and high now in low the wattage will turn some of the elements partly red the reason you dont see it is because it is fan forced heat on those type heaters which causes the elements to look like they are not red but they are on, only low will do this. Now high will cause all elements to get "red" even while the fan is running. If there is no heat someone needs to bypass switch to see if they work.process of iliminitation.Hope this helps for you.

Will not work!

Give it a good shake. The tip switch may have tripped. Mine up at the hunting camp will tend to lock up without use. On the coldest night too.

I have just had a Comfort Zone CZ230ER heater installed in my garage. The room temp sensor is reading in reverse, Goes up as the room cools and goes down as the room warms.

That would be a warranty issue, but wonder if you are reading set temperature, ambient temperature or 'set back' temperature? Contact the maker.
