Neato XV11 beater bar jam

Are you cleaning the beater bar (including removal and cleaning of the bearings at both sides of the brush) after every run? It's important that you try to minimize the hair that is getting into the drive shaft due to lack of maintenance. This is a known issue with the XV series. It was improved with Botvac series, and improved even more with Botvac D-Series. The new Connected models hardly get any complaints of this nature, as the design has improved even more.

My neato keep asking "put in my dirty bag"

Neato's dustbin, when inserted into the recess, makes contact with a switch that indicates that the dustbin is in place. First, ensure that when you insert the dustbin, you press down FIRMLY to make sure it's all the way in. You should hear it "click" into position. If you hear the click, but it still isn't working without errors, it may be that the dustbin is not pressing down on the switch with sufficient force. The easiest fix for this problem is to tape a small piece of paper to the switch (to add some "height") so the switch will make better contact with the dustbin. Finally, if neither of these methods works, it may signal a faulty switch in the dustbin receptacle. If the switch is faulty, you'll need to have the Neato serviced.

Battery error messages

I agree with JE :). Did you check the old batteries with a volt meter? With the same error message pre and post replacement, either you are one of the people with bad luck, or it's in the "brains". You can attempt fault isolation, but I don't know if it would be worth the time since replacement parts from manufactures are notoriously expensive. Finally check the charging station. Clean the rails on the charger, and the connections on the machine with alcohol. Sometimes the worst problems can be solved with one simple action, or at least Occam said.

Lcd screen not working

Even though I own a XV21 they forwarded this to me. You have replaced the battery with, I assume, a new one. So start with the charging system. First check the plug and other wiring. Pick up an inexpensive VOM meter. Harbor Frieght might be a good place to start your shopping. You can check the AC line for a break with the ohm setting. Be sure it's deenergized (unplug) :) Then check the output voltage (DC setting). If the output is up to spec then I'd guess it's something internal, and probably beyond the ability of an end user. Oh, and if you know someone with a machine which takes the same battery try charging yours on the friends charger, and swap out the batteries to see what happens.

My XV 11 Vacuum keeps on bringing up the message " My vacuum is stuck"

This message generally means that the beater/brush bar is not turning. Try rotating the beater/brush bar manually to see if it can turn freely. If not, you will need to remove the beater/brush bar and ensure that it is clean; that the orange end caps on the brush are free of hair and dirt, and that the bar housing area is free of obstructions. Note, when I said "beater/brush", it could be either/or, depending on whether you're using the "standard" beater bar, or the upgraded pet brush.

Neato seems to have died but the green light is on

Mine was doing same thing. was working flipped upside down to replace the rubber blades then nothing.Display dark only it has green led around orange button. Unplugging batteries didn't help.pressing buttons nothing. holding buttons down nothing. Found this on another site. Connect the vac to your computer and place it on charger at same time. Press and hold the orange button for about 10 sec. or so. it should turn of the LED then let up and repress button. vac should then reboot. Unplug computer. Wouldn't hurt at this time to tell it you put in "New Batteries" but first remove any scheduled cleaning days to clear its memory. After doing the New battery, reset the schedule and let it charge. After that it maybe a good time to check your program version and update it from the Neato web site to the newest update. The newest update does wonders for the battery run time issues.

Information display is faded and can barely read it, what is the proplem?

Often this happens when the display is not receiving the voltage it is designed for. It's common for battery fueled devices have displays loss readability. My guess in your case however is if the battery was on it's way out you would have noticed it long before the dimming of the display. You can take it to an electronic repair place, or contact the company and see if they might swap it out (depending on age). And if you are a tried and true DIY guy open it up and put an ohm meter on each connection, looking for a break or more likely a cold solder joint. Sorry I am out of silver bullets for the VZ-11.

Will not charge

This could point to several causes: 1) Accidentally disconnected battery or batteries inside Neato 2) A charger that is not properly assembled (check charging block connections) 3) A dead battery 4) A defective charger 5) Defective charging circuitry on the Neato motherboard The easiest way to determine the actual cause is to thoroughly research each potential cause on the Neato Robotics forum, found here:

Neato vacum powers up but immediately shuts down

Hi thanks for giving me the opportunity to assist yu. I know these little ones can sometimes be a real pain. I wonder at times if the "Coolness" factor is really worth it...Then I see it just doing its thing without me being there and Im like "Heck Yeah its worth it!" I know on my Zoomba unit under the brush you should find several differnt sensors. They kind of look like masking tape! Make sure they are clean. If not they will cause your unit to continuously shut down because it thinks it full!. Give it a try. Thanks.

My new neato vaccum says charging for two days

When I first saw the Neato advertise it was designed for, but not only, pet fur. I did my due diligence and discovered they DO have a problem with QC. While they seemed more then willing to exchange the units, but alas, to me that's shutting the barn door after the horse got out. It's really just an after the fact, band aid. Most people familiar with electronics will agree when you put a ni-cad or nmh in service it's best to give it a long charge. However two days would, by most, be considered an indication of a problem. If you have the knowledge and handy skills you could remove the battery (easy), check voltage clean the contacts and using a bulb, motor, or most any other "load". run it down then try charging again. IMHO however more then likely their is a problem with either the charger or, more likely, the charging components within the unit. I've heard most exchange units are used, repaired and shipped out. I'm not a fan of reconditioned items, to often whatever caused them to be returned reappears. When something is intermitten fault isolationg can be nearly inpossible. Needless to say you have past the point of returning so the only option is the exchange route. Good luck!!!

If you have made sure all of the sensors are clear, and the moving parts (wheels, beater brush, etc) are free, then it could be a software issue. You can update your on-board Neato software here:http://neatoroboticsupdates.com/ Joewww.joeramsay.ca

My neato d 80 tells me to open bin put switch to if i triy it will say battrey low need to charge battrey beattrey is new

It sounds like you are having some issues with your Neato D80 robot vacuum. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Make sure that the bin is properly closed and seated in the vacuum. If the bin is not closed or seated correctly, the vacuum may not function properly.
  2. Check the battery to make sure it is fully charged and properly installed in the vacuum. If the battery is low or not properly installed, the vacuum may not function properly.
  3. Check the charging cord and charging port to make sure they are not damaged and are making a proper connection.
  4. If the problem persists after trying these troubleshooting steps, you may need to take the vacuum to a repair center for further diagnosis and repair.
