I am not able to get sound out of the projector.
The Vivitek D825MS Projector does not have any speakers of its own. You have to use an outside source for sound. Another set of speakers connected to the laptop might help, or if you have access to a plug in through a stereo or mixer to take the sound from your computer to the speakers hooked up to the stereo or mixer, that is ideal. Hope this helps.

I cannot seem to link up my projector and laptop
Assuming that you have all the connections between the laptop and the projector already performed, you should check in you laptop's manual what is the key combination necessary to switch between normal mode and presentation mode.
For instance, some Dell laptops need you to press the function key (key marked with Fn in blue) and, while keeping it pressed, press also the F8 key (marked with CRT/LCD in blue) to cycle between the options.
Some HP laptops will need you to do the same operation, but now using the function key and the F4 key, to select between "Computer only", "Extended (dual) presentation mode" or "Projector only" modes.
If even with these indications you are still not able to make your laptop show its information through the projector, please send us more details on how you connected your laptop to the projector, as well as the brand and model of your laptop.
Hope this information can help you!
Power light flashes 5 times
Unfortunately that is 2 different errors... One being easily fixed. The 5 blinking power LED means its time to replace the Lamp, thats the easiest one to fix.
The blinking ready light means a "Fan 3 error". There is no reference on what that could be. It could be as simple as cleaning the air filter, or as complicated as replacing one of the fan units. You will need to contact Vivitek to know for sure:

Attached you will find a chart for diagnosing the Power and Blinking Ready Lights:
My computer will not recognize
1 Check the cable for damage
2 make sure the settings are right in Display Options (second monitor is enabled)
3 check computer is set to the resolution that your projector can display (start of the lowest)
How do you show a slideshow that has been
If this is the first time you've ever tried to project something from the laptop you probably just need to activate the laptop's data port. Look for an "f" key across the top of the keyboard that says CRT/LCD, or has an icon showing 2 screens. While holding down the function "Fn" key in the lower left corner of the keyboard, press the correct "f" key. You may have to do this a couple of times because it goes in a cycle where the image is on your laptop, only, next time on the screen, only, then on both the laptop and screen.
I have a vivitek projector connected to a macbook
I don;t know the vivitek projector, but I have worked with 100s of models overall. This type of message usually comes from a bad selecto=ion of input or signals that are out of range. With a Mac, I'm guessing that you are connecting with either VGA or DVI. Verify that there are no switches that control the input connector first of all. Second, verify the resolutions that the projector will handle and make sure that you are within that range. If neither of those help, try and post the input connectors etc for your specific projector. I'll try and locate info as well.
Thanks,
Dan
