To update while connected to wifi and in a charging state go to settings > general > software update > install update

As mariolands said, there is no trash bin because Apple wants to make the device as simple as possible for users to use. Actually, if you think about it, a trash/recycle bin is not even necessary as the user does not need to worry about things like that.
If you were wondering how to remove apps, then you have to hold any app icon on the home screen for several seconds until they start wiggling. As they begin to wiggle, you should see a cross in the top corner of each app. To delete an app, just tap on the "x" and it should be deleted.
As for the mail, once you're in the mail app, just swipe right on the message you want to delete and an option to delete will appear on the right. Alternatively, you can tap Edit at the top right and select the message(s) you want to delete.

When that happens to me, I find that it means they have not completely download onto my ipad. I do find tho that if I hold my finger down on the icon, it will allow me to delete once I see the 'x' on the top left corner.

Recover or Reset Forgotten Apple ID or Password on iPhone & iPad

This is all done on an iOS device and is often the simplest way to log back into an Apple account:

1. Open the Settings app and scroll down and tap on "iCloud"

If you are trying to download a picture to social media like facebook. Try going into your photo album select the picture or video you want to upload on the bottom of your screen there should be an arrow half inside and half outside a box press that and find the app you want to share it with and your all set.

Go to PhotoStream, choose "select" in the top right corner, then select the photos you want to delete, and then hit the trash can icon in the bottom right corner and you're done! :)

Hi, I have an IPad Air. If you open up your "Photos" button on the screen, it will list either "Photos" or "Albums" at the bottom of the screen. Touch the "Albums" button,. Find the album your pic is in. Find the pic you want to delete within that album. Touch the pic. At the top of the screen, you'll see a "Trash Can". Touch the trash can and the pic will be deleted.
